After that, she didn’t waste another moment. She rushed back to the table. Taking up the discarded envelope, she pulled back the stamp. Underneath, Maddie could find the drawing. It was an eagle holding a snake in its talons. The sight sent a wave of relief through her. “Oh god, about time.” Maddie couldn't help but feel herself cry a little. These past days have proved the most difficult.

Excitedly, she showed me the screen of my phone, revealing her latest creation. I studied the drawing intently, taking in the long oval shape with two balls below and hairs beneath them. Astra was not exactly sure she liked that about him, she was not perfect either, so she was not in the position to be choosy. “I am done,” Jared said, stretching his sketch pad to her. Astra took the pad from his hand, when their finger brushed, she looked up and saw him smiling, she smiled at him in return. Astra looked at the sketch and saw a replica of herself. She was wearing a cheeky smile in the sketch, the type that children wore when they wanted to do something sneaky. Astra smiled at the replica, wondering what was on his mind when he drew her with that smile.

Then something on the back of the blueprint Joy was holding caught her eye. Her gaze sharpened instantly. "Who said I couldn’t draw it?" Stellar raised an eyebrow, her voice calm but firm. "I can redraw it right now. Exactly as it was." She walked over to a nearby desk, pulled out a fresh sheet of paper, picked up a pen, and started to sketch. At first, everyone dismissed it as a bluff. But as minutes ticked by and the lines came together, the entire blueprint took shape—clear, precise, and stunning.

I guess I am.” “Papa said you make stars out of metal.” My lips curl slightly. “He did?” He nods, finally coming to sit beside Liam and me. “I like stars. I draw them too.” He opens the sketchpad and shows me a few rough pencil drawings—some constellations, others are just made-up shapes with names scrawled underneath.
