Stephen King The Shining Book Novels & Stories

It's time. I pushed myself up. Rest had done its part. Not enough to dull the edge— just enough to sharpen it. I moved back through the rows of books, shadows stretching with the fading light. The guards changed shifts. The librarians too. Readers drifted out, scrolls in hand. Reports exchanged. Nods. Quiet conversation. As always. I slipped through it all, hidden in the long shadows cast across the halls. Straight to the barracks. I stopped in the shadow of the building, just behind Maximus.
