Each pack’s Heartstone flew to the new chosen, brave leaders who had already been carrying their people, their hopes. Now, the stones recognized them. Accepted them.
Then Xareth fell. Not as a demon or as a monster, but as something small. His body shriveled down to the size of a monkey, frail, pathetic, trembling on the floor. His demon essence, once so terrifying, was gone. Stripped from him.
And with that final unraveling, his army collapsed. One by one, the demon soldiers turned to ash, their screams silenced by the wind.
