19 Then Amanda reached over and scrolled down. Right there, in the middle of the article I hadn't read yet, was a picture of me. I was walking out of Julianna's new shop. My confusion grew, but a nagging suspicion tightening my guts made me read the article. On it was my entire life story. From the accident that took my parents and my hearing years ago to Jim's death recently, my relationship with Leo, and something else that made my heart accelerate and my breath catch.

Then “I’ve heard a lot of stories about myself tonight.” A small ripple of laughter. Nervous. Interested. “Some of them were true,” I continued. “Most of them weren’t.” A pause. Just enough. “But that’s the problem with stories,” I said. “If you let other people tell them for you… you lose control of who you are.” The room stilled. Focus tightened. I felt it. That shift again. The same one from before. But stronger now. “I won’t do that,” I said.

Tension flowed through my body. The only thing on my mind was this: Impress them. The man in the middle picked up my file. “I can see here that you have written several stories. “Yes, sir.” “And you want to work with us?” “Yes, sir.” He leaned back slightly. “Then tell us something, Miss Molley. Why do you think storytelling is important?” For a second, my mind went blank. But then the words slowly returned. “Stories help people understand themselves,” I said. “Sometimes people cannot say how they feel, but they can see themselves in a story.”

He went over my answer mentally before he scribbled it down. "Tell me about yourself." He put the file away with interest on his face. There was nothing to tell. I didn't know a thing about myself other than I was an Omega and I was pregnant. "What does the Pack want to know about me?" I looked down at the mug in my hand. "It's not about the Pack. I want to know your story. What was life at Darkmoon like for you." I bit my lower lip as I brainstormed on what to say.

"I thought I was just telling my own story. I didn't think it would actually help anyone else." "That's usually how the most important stories work," Jake said. "You tell the truth for yourself, and it ends up mattering to people you never even considered while writing it." We sat together as the evening settled around us, and I found myself thinking about the entire arc of the past two years, the wedding, the humiliation, Maya's cruelty, the slow rebuilding, and finally, this moment, holding proof in my own hands that the worst chapter of my life had somehow, eventually, become something capable of helping strangers I'd never meet.

Any significant others?” He asked. “No, sir. It’s just me and my son.” I replied. “You, sir? Do you want to tell me about yourself?” I asked. “Me? Well, I built this company up from scratch over a year ago, nothing crazy.”
