I then noticed a comment in the comment section. "In the original story, Waylon's insistence on marrying Zoe led to a fallout with his parents. Elena’s Pov; Pain? The word wasn’t new for me. Fallout arrived immediately and mercilessly, like a match struck in dry grass. By mid-morning both clubs had issued bland, boilerplate denials that fooled no one. Westbridge’s statement was pure corporate speak: “The sighting was a professional courtesy visit between former colleagues. The club has no further comment on personal matters.” Ostin City’s was shorter, sharper, colder: “Coach Vale’s movements are not subject to public scrutiny. All focus remains on the current season and squad performance.” The words were polished, rehearsed, and meaningless. Fans weren’t buying it.

I tried to be empathic. "What happened?" I asked. Celie came and placed some ice in our drink. "Good news," she said. "If you're fired, here have some ice for the burn." "Leave her alone!" I exploded. Karmen slumped down again, resting her head on top of her folded arms like grade-school girls do during detention. From down there, she narrated what had happened.
