I then head to the pool where I have a cocktail to unwind before I head up to bed at eleven. Everything in my life, personal and professional, runs according to a very strict schedule and set of routines. I can set my clock to it. Tonight, however, I allow Mara to tell Gregory his story while I stand outside his bedroom and shamelessly listen it. It’s a story about a young man who has to go on a series of adventures to save his family from an evil witch. I smile. The story might be a little too grown up for Gregory to fully understand, but Mara is inexperienced, and Greg is transfixed.

I smiled to myself as I took it all in. It was at this point that I spotted the trio on the far left. There was a 50-ish portly man who was standing at the bar, gesturing wildly as he told some sort of story to a blonde woman and a dark haired man standing next to her. The two listeners appeared to be in their 30's and were very interested in whatever the older man was saying. I also noticed that the dark haired man was moving ever so slowly closer to the blonde as the story progressed. Every so often the blonde would become aware of his closeness and move away from him and toward the older man. I smiled at myself again. This looked like it could get interesting.

"You know the rules. Bedtime is bedtime. And besides, they probably want to have some grown-up talk." "What do grown-ups talk about?" I think for a second, then grin down at him. "Taxes," I say. "And their boring, boring jobs." Brandon wrinkles his nose in distaste. "Ugh." "Yeah, it's terrible," I say with a mock sigh, "but you have to do it, when you're a grown-up. Luckily for you, you're still a kid. So we don't have to talk about mortgages, and instead, I get to tell you a bedtime story. How's that sound?"

“I told you, I won’t force you.” “But we must, I mean we can’t fake the-” “We’ll mark each other. It'll be enough to sustain our story. I know how you feel about it, but the mark will fade away eventually. We'll renew it once in a while.” By the end of this talk, he was only in his underwear. A small whimper escaped my mouth causing me to slap a hand over it. His laugh filled the room. Despite the turmoil of emotions that were ravaging my mind, I couldn’t deny the fact that his body was nothing less than perfect.
