Rule Number One: My Brother's Best Friend

Rule Number One: My Brother's Best Friend

"I've tried so hard not to see what was going on. It was easy enough to do when I was working. I could've retired a year ago, you know that? They offered me early retirement, the full package. But I didn't want to take it." I couldn't get rid of the lump in my throat. "Well, we all cope in different ways," I croaked. "Going to work was your way of coping. Pretending Paul's still alive sometimes—that's Mum's way of coping. There's—there's no such thing as normal grief, you know?" "What about you?" He sent me another sidelong look. "What's your way of coping? You seriously planning on keeping Drew Barnett at arm's length for all eternity?"

The Billionaire Baseball Star's Regret

The Billionaire Baseball Star's Regret

I held his gaze, anchoring his panicked mind to my voice. "Inhale," I ordered. He sucked in a deep shaky breath. "Exhale." He let it out in a long, shaky groan. "Again. Tell me about the Vanguard Group," I prompted, needing to distract him from the physical shock. "Tell me about Witherspoon." "He’s a vulture," Jake gritted out, focusing on the anger to fight the cold. "He wants the agency. He’s been shorting our stock for six months, waiting for me to fail."

You Can Run But You Can't Hide My Contractual Wife

You Can Run But You Can't Hide My Contractual Wife

She was just always waiting for his order. "What is happening there right now?" Mark suddenly asked. "Boss, Trishia Meyer fainted. I am still observing. The matter here is chaotic. One ex-wife was trying so hard to get back her ex-husband while the other woman was so desperate to hold on and control her soon-to-be husband. hahaha." Greta was laughing softly while reporting everything. "Now what are we going to do, boss? Who do you want me to kill first?" Greta asked along with her wicked chuckles.

worst book ever...had i known author is a nymphomaniac sadist who likes women as weak, doing slavery, getting raped still going after the male leads, i wouldn't have started this 430+ chapters still the prime chars haven't talked to each other clearly, they just have sex even when talking is needed
shallycolly
There is no growth in this book. The author keeps moving in a circle. With 399 chapters, misunderstanding btw Bill & Arabella & evil plots against them has not been cleared. I don't see this book ending any time soon. The author keeps repeating the same intentions of the characters in every chapter.

Betrayed, Broken, Back for Revenge

Betrayed, Broken, Back for Revenge

There’s tenderness in the bruises on my ribs, in the ache that curls after Cole came to own me this morning and I made him admit he does love me and he does need me. Part of me mourns the version of us that could have been… the stupid, hopeful new adult who thought she knew love. I did believe and I lost everything. The grief is still there. The sorrow. The harsh disappointment of losing something I can never get back. But this time grief becomes strategy. A tap at the private entrance sounds like a cue. I already know how this goes. I step to the door and open it. Jade is perfect the way sunlight is perfect. Her hair is a statement. Her suit is a quiet headline.

THE BILLIONAIRE'S REGRET

THE BILLIONAIRE'S REGRET

Anything. But he turned without a word and walked away. No second glance. No flicker of guilt. Just... gone. Tears streamed freely now. It wasn’t the pain that made me weep, it was the utter finality in his departure. I was a discarded memory, a mistake he wanted to erase. Maybe it was time to resign. Maybe this company, this poisonous place, had taken everything from me already. Maybe leaving was the only way to keep whatever was left of my dignity.

After the Divorce, My Billionaire Husband Lost His Mind

After the Divorce, My Billionaire Husband Lost His Mind

And as I looked at the woman I loved, sitting in afternoon sunlight with hope finally outweighing fear— A thought occurred to me. Maybe this wasn't the end of grief. Maybe grief never really ended. Maybe it simply stopped being the loudest voice in the room. But before either of us could say another word, her phone buzzed. A new message. From the genetic counselor's office. An appointment had just become available. Tomorrow morning. And attached to the message was a preliminary questionnaire. One question highlighted automatically by the system. A question neither of us expected. Has anyone in either family ever experienced unexplained sudden death before age 50?

My Husband's Strange Coworker

My Husband's Strange Coworker

"Darling, I'm so sorry. I didn't have a choice. He's well-connected with my boss. If I didn't agree, he was going to ruin me. "All these years, everyone called me a freeloader. I just wanted to stand on my own two feet for once, so people wouldn't laugh at you for having bad taste in men." Listening to his pathetic, hollow excuses, I let out a cold laugh. "You sold me for a project, and you're using me as the excuse? You are absolutely disgusting." After a pause, I whispered, "I want a divorce." My entire body was shaking. Kylan looked at me in disbelief. His guilt turned into a defensive rage. "I did this for our future! So I could be worthy of you!"

Regret After Her Final Goodbye

Regret After Her Final Goodbye

"What...?" Ellison could barely speak. His hand shook as he took the hairpin, not wanting to believe any of it. "Ms. Gilbert died of liver cancer," the woman said. "This hairpin... she left it behind. She won't be coming to the wedding. You don't have to wait for her anymore." Her voice was so loud this time, almost everyone could hear. "No way!" Ellison shouted, his voice shaking. "She was just fine before. How could she have liver cancer? She was excited about today... about our wedding...
