Kris’s POV It was mine and Nathan’s 19th birthday. Thankfully, Council Member Clayton hadn’t arrived yet. We both expected him to turn up today. No doubt he would do it on purpose to ruin our celebration. The pack helped us celebrate. Emily baked us our own separate birthday cakes. Nathan’s was chocolate and mine was red velvet. Oh, how I love a red velvet cake with plenty of frosting. Overall, the day was amazing, and I was so happy.

And, he waited some more. He almost asked if everything was okay in there, when the door cracked open and Rayan eased his head out. He was wearing a cheap pair of black cat ears. "Your birthday's in October, so it has to be a costume party, right?" Rayan stayed mostly hidden. "Put your crown back on."

As the days continued to roll by, a glimmer of hope appeared in Zack and Amy's home. The birthday of their twin children, Josh and Aliah, was approaching. Dad was filming, which he did every year and then never watched the video, but kept them all in a folder on his phone labeled September 14. Make a wish, someone said. I made one.
