Sally was wearing an earring on her left ear. The other one was missing. The remaining earring looked familiar to me because it matched the one in my bag. The café’s noise faded into silence as a deafening buzz filled my ears.

Today, he had his hair combed back, which highlighted his facial features even more. When the two passed by a stall selling hair accessories, Serenity said, “Wait a sec, I need to buy some scrunchies.” The ones she had were getting loose. They were extremely cheap, usually going for 2 dollars a bundle. Normally, she would purchase them online together with other accessories. However, since they were already at the stall, she decided to just buy them there. Jackson glanced at the black scrunchie that Serenity was using. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that it was so worn out that the white rubber band underneath was now visible.

Well, he looks like a bad boy right now but he's wearing this kind of headband. “Then, I should choose yours.” He said and came up with the crown headband. “Well, you look like a princess.” He uttered and chuckled as he wore it on me. “Are you a couple?” My eyes shifted to the lady who was selling the headbands. She was smiling from ear to ear while looking at us. “No,” I quickly answered. Disappointment ate her smile. “Really? But you look like a couple. You also look good together,” she chuckled.

He told her. “Like what?” Raden asked with curiosity. “Well, like the headband you remembered for Ryle.” He smiled, as he started digging through the box, carefully. “Raden watched as he went through the box. “These are things that she wants you three to have or share.” He said as he touched his mate’s things. “Aahh... here it is.” He said pulling out a vacuum sealed package that had the headband with blue and pink sapphires along the top of the band. “This band has been passed down to each female in your mom’s family.”

Her hairband is still lying here from the days after Ashbury Lane. That soft black one she always loops twice around her wrist when she’s not wearing it. I pick it up. Hold it. Thumb over it like it’s some kind of sacred object. It’s ridiculous, really. How something this simple can hit like a knife to the chest.

Yet when Gerard slipped it onto my finger after being pressured by the lady, my heart thudded so loudly. It drowned out the hum of the cars' engines as they drove by.

Nora called behind her. Sarah was back inside the closet and before Nora could blink twice she was sitting in front of a mirror as Lyla braid her hair. It was a long braid that went from one side of her head to the other and down her shoulder. She purposely asked for it to not cover her mark on her neck. Sarah then began placing the baby's breath inside the braid. Lastly Lyla came out holding something behind her back.
