She deserved it. “And we fought on your day.” She said. “That is because I am an idiot.” He said as he kissed the top of her head. “Never again, though.” “We will see.” She replied, and he laughed, knowing this was how it was really going to be for the two of them as they moved to this next step. “Now, what was that cake topper you wanted so bad?” “That is Princess Leia and Han Solo.” He chuckled. “You know some of the main characters of the movie?”

He had his eyes on the strawberries when he said, “How about strawberry shortcake?” Lilly clasped her hands together and nodded enthusiastically. “Yes. Let’s do it.” Marian chuckled when she saw the light in Sam’s eyes. “How about I help out?” Sam picked Lilly up and headed over to the kitchen. “No, Marian. No help from you please. This cake is from me and Lilly to Chan.” Marian shook her head. “Fine. I won’t help then.” Sam rolled up his sleeves and even donned an apron while Lilly brought out the flour. Hence, father and daughter began their magic in baking. By the time it was done, the cake looked quite beautiful with the icing and strawberries on top.

IZZY POV We had a quiet dinner that night. Joanna had pulled out the stops, making all of my favorites. I didn’t have an appetite, but I tried everything because I knew it would please her. The strawberry shortcake was the grand finale, done to perfection using sponge cake instead of the biscuits that were traditional. Just the way I liked it. I stood up from the table and turned to Joanna. “Thank you for the most delicious meal,” I said with a smile. Joanna gave me a watery smile back.

Brandon replies, his head on top of hers. After a few more minutes of dancing like teenagers, Brandon whispers in Charlie’s ear, “What do you say we cut into that cake?” I toss my head back, laughing. Of course Brandon is worried about the cake. Charlie laughs too, turning to give Brandon a kiss. “You’ve been waiting the whole time to cut into that cake haven’t you?” “Well, you’re not the only one who likes strawberry shortcake,” he says sheepishly. I laugh my ass off at that one. Brandon and his fucking sweets.

"It's fine, we were just chatting." The rest of their time spent together went by easier, she was surprised by how much easier it was to be around Randy when Josh was there to be a buffer. It reminded her of the past, something she needed to stop searching for, but as the three sat together, her heart finally felt lighter. "K, you have to try this cake." Randy groaned in bliss and held out his plate for her. It was small strawberry shortcake, with fresh fruit and cream. It smelled amazing. Without thinking, she stole a piece with her fork.

Gently, he put the linguine and the slice of strawberry shortcake at the table of the crying lady. “I didn’t order anything.” She glanced at him. Her mascara was almost worn out. Bobby warned himself not to laugh at her appearance. “Well, a strawberry shortcake can ease your sadness.” He gave her a warm smile while watching her eating a spoonful of cake. “Why don’t you try our best-seller pasta dish. It’s my specialty.” “O-ok.” She mumbled. After few minutes, she felt that she’s about to choke.

Not far away, Charles was sharing the cake he brought with Hannah. "Hannah, is the strawberry cake delicious?" Charles looked at Hannah with anticipation. How could this little girl be so beautiful? She's just too pretty. Those big eyes are really beautiful, sparkling as if they can talk. She's prettier than any other child he's ever seen. "Hannah, you're so beautiful. Will you be my wife when you grow up?" Charles looked at Hannah with a smile. Hannah was eating the cake. When she heard the word "wife," she asked curiously, "Charles, what is a wife? Can you eat it?"

A bar of fancy chocolate and a box of my favorite pastries—he used to think that's all it took to make things right. And now? He'd gone all out tonight. But I wasn't the same Natalie I used to be. Anyone could pretend. Anyone could play along. Charles pulled out a slice of strawberry shortcake and, just like he used to, dipped his finger into the cream and reached over to dab it on the tip of my nose. However, I turned away this time. He pulled back awkwardly, forcing a laugh. "You love desserts. I waited forever in line for this." But I'd already seen the exact same cake on Stella's Twitter earlier today—

He works from 9:00 am to 2: 00 pm and after that Jake who is also a teenage student takes over the world of Sam. She laughed to herself, saying, "He wants to discuss a collaboration? Am I that lucky?" It felt like an opportunity that had come at the perfect time. She'd designed those stickers in her free time—the third version, in particular, was game-friendly. She'd miniaturized the characters so they would appear more expressive and vivid as stickers. Then, she sighed in relief. Elliott wasn't mad at her anymore, so she no longer had to feel bad. With nothing weighing her down, she could have a good night's sleep. She looked at the strawberry cake on the table. She loved it, but Clifford had never been able to remember that. In hindsight, it wasn't that he couldn't remember. It was just that he'd nev
