CHAPTER ONE The full moon that night was unusually bright. I couldn't remember the last time I'd ever seen it shine that brightly, but I did remember sitting at the raised pedestal with my family and my friends, where I was supposed to be eating and celebrating, but all I did was look glum. The moon was supposed to be a warning, but I missed it. My father caught me staring up at the moon curiously and I heard him give a low chuckle beside me. "You think it's unusual, don't you, daughter?"

I’m not one to back down from a fight, seeing as how I am literally a war goddess but Selene likes to poke the bear as it were. Artemis chimes in, “I’ve never understood that expression, considering you two are wolves and I’m a wolf shapeshifter. Maybe I should start shifting into a bear”. We all start laughing hysterically. As our laughs abate, I think to my father. He is a Sun God and draws his ancient powers from the Druids of Ire.

The sun was high in the sky the next day when a grand carriage pulled up to the stone gates of the Red Moon Pack. The now almost fifties, Luna Vanessa and Alpha Leo, were filled with a deep confusion as they stepped out onto the gravel path to meet the royal family. They had traveled many miles from the north because a royal messenger told them that King Shane and Queen Amelia had found something that belonged to the Silver Fur Fang Pack. Alpha Leo looked older than his years, with gray hair at his temples and eyes that seemed to carry a heavy weight of sadness from a past he could not change.

A magical barrier was also created with this power source that was around the coven that would protect them from any outside forces. Years ago the coven worked together to create the barrier and it was a success. The barrier was strong, and it kept the coven safe. But if the power source is drained then the barrier will no longer exist. This started to worry Zion. If she can’t protect her coven, then they will surely be as good as dead. The power source was a crystal, powered by the blood of a Luna. Zion was filled with anticipation as she placed her hands on the crystal. A bright light appeared, and she felt a surge of energy. She felt a warmth in her chest, and a sense of peace and calm. S
