The back of my neck prickled as I followed the voices, my coffee forgotten in favour of seeing if Ares’s voice was among the others.
I pulled my cloak flush to my sides as I stepped out of the front doors and into the snow. The sun was just barely starting to rise, the horizon paling into shades of peach and tangerine. I paused and stared at the colours for a moment, my breath catching in my throat. It was so rare to see anything other than endless swathes of white and grey here that anything new, anything different, appeared even more beautiful.
