“You were so cool.”
Mind slightly panicky, I did not notice us get to the rooftop. I observed my environment, taking in the beautiful sundown as the sun—a crisp circle in the bloody sky, dipped below the horizon, its hues of flames stretching out with sepia tones, crying to the gathering night that would beckon the most beautiful of twinkling stars. I reached out to what seemed to be the bloom of a million scarlet, my eyes steady and my face aglow with rays of orange, my lips telling how enjoyable the sight before me was. It felt as though I hadn’t seen a sunset in years.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Malena exhaled, the sight drawing her in.
