It was the old shirt I had given back to him when I returned to Moon Valley. “I’m Superman,” he said with a wink. I shook my head and went inside. I felt a shudder ripple through Cillian when he stepped inside, and I immediately reached for his hand.

I asked as I turned to face Nick. "Why don't you ask your dear best friend over here," he replied instead. "Ash what did you do this time?" Asher had a smug look on his face, "your boyfriend needs to learn that Superman is the best superhero of all time and Batman sucks," he replied with a shrug. "That's why you look like someone who ate a sour lemon?" I asked Nick. "Hey! Batman is a legend, he's just human and yet he does more than Superman whose weakness is the one thing found on his home planet, how pathetic," he said defensively and then rolled his eyes.

Jeez. We stopped at a bay near the mall, the cool breeze blowing, so I hugged myself. He put his jacket on my shoulders, and I muttered my thanks, to which he responded with a smile. “I bought you this, that’s why,” he said, and I looked at him, seeing him take out a small box from his pocket. I couldn’t help but smile. It was a gold bracelet with different kinds of flowers, but what caught my attention was the green centerpiece. “This is kryptonite, Superman hates it. It makes him weak, he couldn’t do anything.” I didn’t understand why he was telling me this; I already knew.

It most likely belonged to him. He glances at me again but yet with a much keener expression. "I am?" "Yes, you are! But you gotta be careful too!" I coax as I continue brushing my fingers through his soft hair. "Superman never starts fire, it's a dangerous thing to play with!" He stares up at me as his mouth curves in a sad pout as I ask "Do you know why superman doesn't do such things?" A shake of his head in denial has me answering "Well because superman helps save people from such things-things as fire can harm people! And superman never harms people."

Scribbles of stars above the figure’s head. “What’s this one called?” I asked gently. “‘Sky Fire.’ It’s what a superhero wears. She doesn’t fly. She just makes people feel better when they’re crying.” My throat thickened. I kissed his forehead and stared at the drawing long after he curled up in my lap, eyes drooping. Sky Fire.

She thought that it was the darkness that was spooking the action figure making him cringe in fear and she was right. "Look, that's superman. He isn't scary, he's a hero. He saved the whole town win all battles, he even drew a battle arc and won." Bella's voice was prideful. To her glee, Modret blinked staring at the picture of the superman. He was smiling sweetly, even his teeth twinkled. This was not what he pictured when the room was dark, anyways Modret decided to forget about it because it was no longer scary in the day compared to that of the night.

He looked back at me with a challenging look. "DC?" I asked him feigning ignorance and taking my time to think. He bought my act and had a victorious smile on. "Well, I won't hold it against you but I do believe that Marvel comics are way better than DC's" I winked for closure then grabbed my second treat. "Wow! I think I should pretend I didn't hear what you just said. Marvel? really?". He kept shaking his head as if he was trying to get my answer out of his mind. "I mean Batman, Superman..... these are THE superheroes !!"

“Randall, that schtick’s old. I haven’t fallen for a sh*t this unoriginal since junior high.” “Yea, dude. I mean, Superman? Really? Why not Iron-Man, huh?” “I’m telling you, I ain’t trippin’, guys! Like, Superman was wearing this white shirt or something and zipping through buildings at high speed right outside. It was like a blip—boom, gone! Faster than Spider-Man! Come on, look! Seeing is believing!” Randall Guy was so thrilled by the discovery that he began to yank two of his closest coworkers to the window with his face flushed red, but, of course, Zayn was long gone with not a trace of him ever being there.
