she said firmly before pushing me away again. I feel like I've been stabbed in the stomach. The alarm clock I had programmed rings on the icy table in my office. It is the end of the dream. We both jump when there is a knock on the door. I am so stunned that I do not realize Lucia is already walking towards the door. I see her straighten up and raise her head like a queen. Then she delicately pulls the handle. A high-pitched scream is heard, bringing me out of my lethargy, and I see with horror the whore my cousin had planned to send me.

The air crackles with an otherworldly energy, as if the very fabric of reality trembles under the weight of their dark desires. As the ritual reaches its crescendo, a palpable shift occurs. The boundary between the mortal realm and the realm of shadows blurs, creating a nexus where possibilities and horrors intertwine. The power Sasha seeks hovers within arm's reach, tantalizingly close yet teetering on the precipice of chaos.

Squelch-pop. I snapped my head back to the mirror. My reflection was pressed against the glass. Its hands weren't resting on the imaginary sink in its world; they were splayed against the interior surface of the mirror, the fingers white and bloodless from the pressure. Its face was inches from mine, separated only by five millimeters of silvered glass. The most terrifying part wasn't the proximity, but the expression. It wasn't my face anymore. The features were identical, yes, but the intent was a jagged, predatory hunger that I had never felt in my life.

But if you wanted to break someone completely, you had to strike at the heart. "What a shame… You would've been able to regularly leave this dungeon tomorrow if you didn't sacrifice me, you know?" Immediately, everyone moved to beat Anna up. "You idiot!" As the seawater rose to their nostrils, I sighed. "I won't kill you." Everyone started to praise me excitedly. "You're too kind, Sylvia!" "Not really," I replied. The very next moment, the seawater engulfed them completely, and their bodies started mutating within the sea, writhing as they screamed in agony.

Jaxon chuckled loudly, a mischievous glint flashing in his eyes. He loved how she could get possessive about little insignificant things. “Enjoy your little sex toys, Lexi.” He sent a mind link to her. Lexi just grinned drily. “Thank you for your care,” she rolled her eyes, then returned to Light’s lap. Mike noticed dark shadows moving slowly along the wall and the creepy art piece hanging on it. The painting showed tall, monstrous figures with bull-like horns, and wings made of swirling black smoke. Their disfigured faces twisted with pleasure. They were dressed in flowing red and their dark eyes were similar to the Blackwoods brothers.

Finn suddenly snapped. His face twisted, veins bulging, and he roared, “‘Heart of Happiness’? What a joke! It’s just a living heart, isn’t it? I’ve got one too!” He didn’t dare attack the ghosts—so instead, while Susie was off guard, he grabbed her and hurled her straight toward his own door. One of the locks instantly transformed into a gaping monster head. It opened wide and swallowed her whole. I didn’t even have time to stop him.

Because he had just been ripped apart. I turned around slowly and stared at the “pet” who had done the ripping. He still had blood on his face, but somehow looked… innocent. “I was hungry,” he murmured. Maybe it was my imagination, but his pupils looked a little sharper than before. [Wow. Trying to slut-shame someone in a horror dungeon? He had it coming.] [Pop the champagne. Ding-dong, the jerk is dead.] [Lol the stans are out. She can sleep with monsters but nobody can call her out?]

A broken holo‑sign crackled above me, throwing flickers of unreadable ads over the faces of half‑rendered undead drones, glitching in and out around the trash bins. Every tile was stolen from somewhere. Everyone wanted us dead. Behind us, where we’d just been, a section of castle floor tilted and dropped, its edge crumbling away into a yawning void that held flashes of every arena at once: rotating blades, ink rivers, spike pits, the red streets swallowing themselves. “Don’t look down,” Jax panted, landing light on a sliver of carnival board next to me. “It’s just existential horror. Nothing new.” “Eyes forward,” Selene snapped.

He let his eyes slip shut and the darkness engulf him in its comforting numbness once again. Screams. Terrified screams chased him through his own mind. Cries and pleas for mercy joined the unholy choir of screaming voices. They warped and distorted, becoming inhuman and the comforting darkness began to ooze blood. Red dripped around and onto him, crimson liquid trickling down his pale arms and body while faceless horrors chased him wailing their terror. Kari fell screaming into oblivion.
