He smiled and looked down before starting, “I was talking about my dog, Lucia… She got badly injured and she wasn’t recovering… Her condition was deteriorating day by day and so I ordered my men to end her misery…” “Oh, my God… I’m so sorry… I thought…” I started anxiously. “You thought I was talking about you” He completed and I looked down in embarrassment. “I’m sorry…” I said slowly and began to play with my fingers. “It is okay, Emily… Anyone could have misunderstood that… But why would I want to kill you? You are such a talented girl… You won that competition with my son… I am so proud of both of you” He said enthusiastically and a smile approached my face.

Emon's dad still had loyal dogs. “Funny,” I said, wiping the small line of blood from my cheek. “Your master didn’t tell you his empire’s fallen?” The man didn’t reply. He lunged. Fast, but not fast enough. I sidestepped, grabbed his arm mid-swing, and twisted until I heard the satisfying snap of bone. He screamed and I threw him into a tree with enough force to splinter the bark.
