It exploded with a high-frequency whine. The synthetics stuttered, then reanimated faster than expected. Julian fired three rounds into the closest one. Its chest cracked, metal flaring. The second lunged for Selene, but Alma tackled it mid-air, slamming a stun injector into its spine.
