The Author of Light There was no sky now. No up, no down, no distance. Only the endless shimmer of the Flow turned living light, and within it, a pulse that was not just the rhythm of creation— but the story of it. It was no longer about worlds or gods. No longer about victory or loss. This was the chapter beyond endings— the place where stories themselves go when they are finished, yet refuse to die. Here, the universe remembered what it meant to be told.

A pair of arms wrapped around me, and I instantly settled into the familiar embrace as both of us watched the sun set over our kingdom. I couldn’t help the squeal of delight that escaped my mouth. I had finally completed my book, 1001 Dark Tales. The look on my editor’s face was one of disbelief when I announced I was stopping all other books to focus solely on that one. I guess writing 1001 Dark Tales takes a long time, four years to be exact. Still, I had written enough books with the help of my quill that I had more than a steady income.

The Last Tree trembled again. The lights overhead began drifting downward. One by one. Thousands. Millions. Like stars falling from heaven. Nova stared in wonder. Each light carried a memory. A life. A story. A universe. The traveler extended a hand. One of the lights settled gently into their palm. "This was the first ending." The memory expanded. Reality shifted. And suddenly, everyone saw it. A universe. The first universe. Small. Beautiful. Young. Nova watched impossible stars illuminate impossible skies. Entire galaxies bloomed like flowers.

The instant they touched. the spark expanded into a brilliant sphere. Inside it... Adrian saw an unfamiliar world. Great floating islands. Endless waterfalls pouring into the clouds. Children chasing creatures made of light. An entirely new universe... waiting for its first Author. The First Reader whispered with tears in his eyes, "Creation..." "...never stopped." At that exact moment... every light in the endless sky trembled. One by one... they turned toward the far horizon. Something had entered the Archive. Not from outside.

“She’s old enough to take care of that herself.” ** From one of the books on the shelf, Evelyn selected a story and with Sarah and Peter clean and curled up beside her, she read The Apple and the Arrow. Listening to the soft lilt of her voice, even Andrew was fascinated by the tale that took him until midway through before he realized it was about the Swiss legend of William Tell. More than once, Peter yawned and even Sarah began to slump heavily as the tale wound to its end and Evelyn closed the book, setting it aside. Though the radio still played softly, gently stroking each child’s damp hair, she began to sing.

*Nitish Pov* I stared at the woman shaking my hand with a curious look as she is staring me with an expectant look like ready to listen to whatever I am going to tell her and not just hear it. "Don't be so excited about my story. It is boring compared to yours." I stated releasing her hand. "My story?" she asked leaning back. "Yes! A long last one-sided love story where her love is out of reach as he is a married man now. While you are trying to come over those feelings along with trying to make up to your mistakes with your other best friend." I explained and she glared at me before sighing.

She dropped the phone and heard it fall on the shards of broken glass on the floor. The atmosphere was suddenly calm. The world was like it has paused in its track. The moon that shone in the sky was now swallowed by darkness and no stars to prove it. Then the air was becoming cold, blowing on like it had a secret to tell. Thaddeus looked down at the man below. The body made the greenish-gold environment which was once appealing look like a bright red passage to hell as blood flowed from the blood like a river down the street. From distance, crows guffawed.

"At the beginning of time, there was the one and he was the light. He was alone for a long time and his name was Alkahiri," Jaishu Kokozu started to narrate the story of how Alkahiri created the universe for the children. The children were all sitting on the wooden floor, paying attention except one who was dozing off. That usual belief of wanting to escape, he wants that as well. He had dreamt of it all this time. He suddenly receives a chat message from his messenger: Chatter: Do you want to escape? Intrigued by the message, he responds... Man: Escape? What?
