Number 3 had only red stars. Number 3 had five stars in her star map, and all of them were red. Three of these stars were filled, whereas the other two were empty. At first Mane reckoned that the stars had to do with a person’s talent. But the twins were just as talented as him, however they had only seven stars in their star maps unlike Mane who had nine. And Dan had fourteen, which just didn’t seem to make sense since Dan’s talent was currently in decline and was comparable to Mane and the twins’. So right now Mane didn’t know what to think. There was one thing he was absolutely certain of though.

At this time, a gale blew at the altar. Everyone in the square knelt on the ground. Sporus, who stood in the altar's center, continued to raise both hands to the sky. The nine stars, which represent the nine planetary alignments, seemed to have sprinkled their light to the ground the next second. Then, the altar was completely engulfed in light. “Nine stars shine brightly on the sky and I am the only one who dominates the world,” Sporus’s piercing voice rang out once more. It reverberated in the night sky.

Kimi and I followed Jack to another chair that was set up for me. “So, Nate. You said your girl designed the tattoo?” Jack said. He was a bigger guy with his hair pulled back in a messy bun. He was the type Kimi would drool over before we had gotten together. “I did,” Kimi grinned. She pulled out a paper with two interlocking circles, and a dot on the outside of each circle. “A binary star. Two stars in orbit with each other.” “That’s,” I stared at the picture, “sappy and cool. I love it.”

I could nearly hear the eulogy now: Artemis Vincent, dead at 22 because she was too virtuous to swipe a watch left behind by some rich guy. A bitter laugh escaped my lips.
