The operating room doors closed like the final page of a book. In an instant, Yvonne and I were cut apart, as though we had been pushed into two different worlds. I wanted to laugh, but something caught in my throat. A metallic taste spread through my mouth, and something darker, heavier, sank inside my chest. Hopelessness was growing in me. I stood behind the hose cabinet like a broken statue for what felt like an eternity. By the time the doors finally opened again, the wind had already dried my tears.

"Don't come closer! You're lying. It wasn't like that! It's not like that! Charlotte must be waiting for me at home. I'm going home to see her right now!" He stumbled out. Ruby tried to stop him, but she didn't succeed. She turned to me, intending to beg me once again so that I'd consent to donate Charlotte's heart to her son. I didn't even look at her as I grabbed the metal chair beside me and threw it at her. She'd killed my daughter. How dare she strip Charlotte of her organs? Screaming, Ruby dodged the chair. The other medical personnel grabbed me, holding me back. In my weakened state, I couldn't break free of them, so Ruby ran out of the room, clutching her head.

And then came the sound Rip. A tear so sharp, so final, it cut through the air louder than my gasp. Louder than the frantic thudding of my own heart. The lace was gone, shredded between his fists. And with it, the lie I’d been clinging to that I could keep us wrapped in almosts and nevers. That sound split me open. Half of me wanted to cry, to shove him away, to mourn the fragile barrier that had been torn apart. But the other half, oh God, the other half wanted to burn alive in the fire he lit in me.

Clearly, my death hadn't changed that. The irony was that my heart was still beating in her chest. Jonathan looked up, and his eyes were bloodshot. "Selena Quigley, she donated her heart to you!" But even that didn't evoke any sense of gratitude in her. Maintaining her haughty tone, she retorted, "She was just a fishmonger's daughter. She should feel honored to have donated her heart to me! If there had been other donors, I wouldn't have taken that deaf-o's heart in the first place—"

Lucas yelled. Janette didn’t listen and continued tearing the picture. Lucas stared at her wide eyed. It felt like with every tear, his heart tore along with it. The tears he had fought desperately to keep back came rushing down his cheeks. His heart was aching badly like a rope had been tied around it and was being tugged at, clearly trying to rip him apart.

However, I had learned a painful lesson that people's hearts were a fickle lot, and it was rare to find anyone truly sincere about their feelings. "Give me some time, Brian," I said quietly. Brian nodded gently. "Alright. I'll wait." After getting home, I saw the long email that Queenie sent to me. Every word she wrote was full of remorse, saying that she regretted losing me as a close friend, and there was nothing else she could say to me aside from apologizing again and again. I stared at the email for a long time. Misty sighed and said, "A mistake is a mistake, and there's no use regretting it because nothing can be undone."

Silent tears rolled down my face. Why? Why couldn't I just have a normal family and a happy life? I never wanted to hurt anyone. I never even got involved with the things they did. But maybe I wasn't innocent either. The money that was used to raise me was dirty, stained with blood and tears. No matter how much I tried to deny it, I couldn't escape payback forever. I just never thought the price would be my own family trying to kill me. When Neil saw me crying, his whole face darkened with fury.

"Sophia, listen carefully. I don't have any feelings left for you. Not love, not even hatred. I just want to have my own life." She stared at me in disbelief, tears forming. "How is that possible? You used to love me so much. How can you not love me anymore?" Suddenly, her gaze fell on the gift box I was holding, and her expression darkened instantly. "You found someone new, didn't you? "That's why you're rejecting me. You threw away my gift, but you accepted someone else's gift?" Although it was merely a corporate gift from the company, I decided to play along. "Yes, I did. Will you leave now?"

She let the paper fall as she sobbed harder and harder. Garett looked at her as she curled herself into a ball. He knew the second she had read the cause of the crash. Her breath had hitched. She had stopped breathing for a moment, and then he saw the tears begin to fall. He had always remarked that nothing had ever made her cry when they were teenagers once before. She had replied something to the effect that she had no more tears left in her. She had taken the verbal abuse from her aunt and her evil daughters, who were his step-sisters up until a few days ago at least. He knew he was free from that horrible family now, but she was tied to them by blood.

The one tear slipped out because it was a traitor and he attempted to deal with what had happened whilst also saying his goodbyes to Beacon Hills and not letting his broken heart crush him completely. . TBC ~please leave gems~
