The thin sheet of paper trembled in the silence for a long time, like the final echo of a departing voice. Tears finally broke free from Marcel's lashes and splashed onto the letter, landing atop tear stains that had already dried there. "Cedric..." Marcel's fingers tightened around the page until his knuckles turned white. Delilah stared at the neat handwriting covering the letter, her chest filling with an indescribable ache. The man who had always listened to them, who had grinned foolishly and declared himself the happiest person in the world, had been forced by their betrayal to grow wings.

The money I had left was less than ten thousand naira after sending most of it to my mom. After cleaning my room and taking a bath, I felt empty. This wasn’t my body anymore, it felt foreign, like something had been stolen and could never be returned. As I stepped out of my room again, tears streamed down my face uncontrollably. When his breathing becomes ragged, clutching the book in his grasp, looking at me then back at the pages, before he drops the book on the floor.

I cry for them. The warm golden glow begins to grow out of Trev as more of my tears fall on him. And it dawns on me. My tears, they can heal. My body, my mind, my soul, can harm and kill in an instant. But, my tears, can save the wounded, mend the broken. My empathy can be the salvation. I can just as easily kill as I can cure. So, I cry some more. The more I cry, the faster his wounds stitch back together. Color returns to his face and his eyes open to look at me as if I am an angel. Trev reaches a hand up and holds my face as my tears keep streaming down.

Lucy POV I almost forgot what I need to buy for groceries because of the sudden presence of Kent. I tried to act cool in front of him but deep inside, I have torn apart, broken into pieces, helpless, and damaged. He's the one who made my life miserable. If he didn't hit in me, fooled and betrayed me, everything is perfect even he's not with me. Yes, I admit, I trusted him with my life and it's the biggest mistake made in my life.
