Hurray! Book one has finally ended and I am so excited. However, I am sorry to break your heart about the suspense. I know I left you hanging, but you can still find out what happened in BOOK TWO titled HEART OF THE HEARTLESS. It will come soon, and I will announce the date soon. For now, I need to focus and write my final exams and I promise you it's going to get better in book two. However, I did not end BOOK ONE because of the exams or school. This is how I wanted to end it to make up for a better BOOK TWO.

TangShi Lei stared hopelessly at the paper in her trembling hands, a tear escaping with silent despair. Sliding across her delicate pale cheek as she stifled the sob which caught in her throat, burning painfully. Her heart and soul shredding as though a million sharp blades were piercing every inch of her body and she knew that her new life was about to end before it had even begun.

Why was my heart paining so much? I remained like that for several moments, mourning my broken destiny. Every memory from my birth till now came in a rushing flood, destroying everything in its path. And when I realised Tera’s wouldn’t bring me anything, I angrily wiped them when my eyes landed on that one book which lay on the ground. A simple book wouldn’t have captured my attention if it wasn’t for some strange lock-like thing protruding out. I frowned before crawling to it.

I shook my head, clutching the book to my chest as his fingers wrapped around it. I could practically hear the withered book groan, my heart along with it. Dean's sly smile was wider now, realizing he had just what he needed to get to me. I could feel the book slipping from my fingers, a strangled whimper leaving my lips. The book was torn from my hands, a quarter of the paper cover fluttering to the floor. "This book special or something?" Dean cackled, dangling it in front of me like bait. Tears stung my eyes, but they often did. Every emotion I had seemed to be wired to my tear ducts, making the waterworks form all too effortlessly.

With the action it’s like all the blood released evaporates. Tears spring to my eyes at the roar that leaves his chest as he rips out his own heart. The piece glows as his wings stutter in their rhythm. I practically press my face to the screen needing to see the rest. He can’t die. He just can’t I want to scream. However, I grow surprised as he pushes the piece of his heart into my chest. My body jerks as he throws a blaze of fire at my chest. My body ceases movement and then the flame dies.

Tears overflowed my heated eyes again. He tensed, “Oh, no. Are you crying again?” worry laced his tone. I buried my face further on his chest, my tears soaking his shirt. He patted my back, “It breaks my heart to hear you cry. It feels like I’m getting burnt alive. Stop, please.” He pleaded, ripping my torn heart even further.

I pulled out my SIM card, snapped it cleanly in two, and let it fall into the trash, severing the last thread. I boarded the plane and turned off my phone. As the plane rose into the sky, I looked down at the city beneath the clouds, watching the place that held all my pain slowly fade from view. Silently, I whispered farewell to the life I once knew. … Ryan held his phone, waiting for a reply that never came. The screen went dark, and he pressed it to wake it again. A restless irritation twisted inside him, sharper and more relentless than ever. He loosened his tie, trying to shake off the strange discomfort.

Up in the booth, Eve was standing against the glass, her hands resting against the cold surface. On her screen, Terry’s heart rate was finally beginning its slow descent from the red zone, the crimson warning lights dissolving back into steady green telemetry numbers. He had secured the victory. He had protected their standing. And he had done it without losing himself. Across the distance of the roaring arena, through the thick glass separating their worlds, Terry locked his eyes onto hers. He lifted one gloved hand, tapping the left side of his chest right over his heart, sending a quiet, unshakeable message through the noise of eighteen thousand cheering voices:

He stared intently at my face; the contempt and disdain in his eyes was long replaced by shock and disbelief. Just then, the doctor walked in holding an autopsy report, his tone tinged with regret. “This is Carol’s autopsy report. “Her chest cavity was pierced by glass shards, directly rupturing her heart. “The wound appeared minor on the surface, but the damage was severe, leading to massive post-injury bleeding. “If she had received timely medical attention, she could have survived. What a pity...” “Heart... pierced...” Mom murmured these words repeatedly, her legs giving way as she nearly collapsed.

Andy’ POV With every step I took, the pain in my heart grew. It was like a fire, burning and consuming me from the inside out. It made my chest ache and made it hard to breathe. The tears that had been pooling in my eyes began to spill over, running down my cheeks. I couldn't stop them; I couldn't even try. I was beyond caring, beyond feeling. I just wanted the pain to end; it seemed like I was swallowed up by the darkness that surrounded me.
