I sit on the edge of the bed and peel open the package. I remove the foam padding and see the custom controllers with my name on it, a limited-edition headset with HexCore initials, a black t-shirt that says ‘Never say Game Over’, a branded lanyard that shows my name. I bring out the thin tablet-iPad-like, the moment my thumb brushes against the screen, it powers on.

He then pulled out the ivory bamboo blanket with navy blue embroidery in one corner, a replica of the tattoo on his forearm he got on his 21st birthday. He smiled with fondness as he looked at the embroidery, his hand tracing the delicate lines of the stitching. Then he unfolded the fabric, his brow wrinkling once more while he stared at the small blanket. “June, this blanket is really nice, but I think it’s too small for us,” he said as he laid it on his lap. “That’s because—” I shook my head and covered my mouth to hide my laugh. “Just keep going,” I told him, waving at the bag.

My reasoning is because I was focusing on finishing off high school, had to deal with graduation and family matters, and most of all I was unmotivated and I have been. Yes, I know it sounds like an excuse but I'd rather write Blinded when I'm motivated rather than write crappy chapters that I don't enjoy writing. So for the month of June, I'm going to take a break from writing, find some sort of motivation, and overall figure out what direction I want Blinded to go. It had been cut off something, and fell down into the shopping bag… I read the print and realized it belonged to my new, super warm blanket that I loved so much. My jaw nearly hit the floor when my eyes landed on the price. It cost over $1,000. No wonder it was so amazing. But that’s when I knew that it had been a gift from Nolan all along. No way was Tina buying me thousand-dollar blankets on a whim.
