It writhed. The wrong scent in the air flared, turning almost sour. A series of rapid, sharp impressions slammed into the bond, faster than before, trying new tactics: flashes of me standing alone in a ruined nexus; Mirra lying in a cracked, dry field; Ronan on a dead shore with no tides. The fear these images sparked was old and real. The triad did not move. The fear stopped at the surface, like waves hitting stone. We felt them. We recognized them.

A trace of fear flashed across his face, and the celebrities behind him gasped too. Tyr’s face had truly given them intense trauma.
