I turned slightly, and that was when I saw them.
Her mother, her sibling, and my parents standing, clapping, and their faces filled with emotion.
Maui simply looked at me while her grip on my hand tightened slightly.
I exhaled slowly, still holding her hand.
She didn’t ask anything more. Instead, she simply whispered, “Thank you for this.”
My expression softened slightly, though I never looked away from her.
“I told you,” I said quietly, “I already decided.”
Her smile deepened at that.
