Chapter 2 (The Rejection)

Ella’s POV

"It's me, Ella, your fated mate."I replied with my heart beating really hard.

His face twisted in disgust. "How can someone like you, a low disgusting looking omega, claim to be my fated mate?"

I was so surprised that my mouth was open, but words couldn't come out. "You promised me, you asked me to keep us a secret, that when the time comes, you would announce us to the world."

"You must be delusional," he yelled as his eyes swept over me. "I do not know you…I have never seen you."

My eyes widened in surprise. “What in the goddess's name is happening,” I pondered to myself as my fingers slowly pulled my hair.

"Six months," I screamed. "It's been six months of us seeing each other. How..."

Before I could complete my statement, a hand struck me hard on my cheek, I nearly lost balance.

"How dare you?" Mary, my step sister yelled. " Accuse my man, the Alpha of this pack of being with," her eyes slowly swept over me, "a low life like you."

Tears rolled down my eyes as my palm gently rubbed my cheek. I didn't say a word to her, I had no business with her. I turned back to Brandon, my hands gripping his trousers as I fell to my knees.

"Please... please Brandon, don't do this to me. I beg you, I carry your child."

The whole crowd gasped in surprise. For a moment, I saw something flicker in his eyes. Even if he could deny me, I know he couldn't deny his child. But that softness vanished immediately. He yanked his leg away from me, causing me to fall to the ground.

With tears in my eyes, I stood up gently, placing my palm on my stomach. "This is the evidence of the love that we share. You can't deny your own ch..."

Before I could finish, Mary raised her hand again to strike me, but this time, I caught her wrist. My voice shook with fury. “You have no right to hit me.”

Her eyes narrowed in shock, and so did mine, because I have never in my life spoken back at her.

Before I could pull my thoughts together, a pain exploded across my back as something heavy struck me hard. I cried out, stumbling forward. I turned, clutching my side, “Mother?” I gasped.

"How dare you, you worthless piece of trash?" Mother thundered, her eyes wide, veins bulging on her forehead. "How dare you embarrass me in front of everyone?... How dare you accuse the Alpha of something so abominable?"

Tears spilled down my cheeks as my lips trembled. "Mother... I..."

"Shut up!" she roared, raising her hand as if to strike me again. "How can a slave ever think it belongs at the table of kings?"

I turned back to Brandon, "Tell them," my voice broke as tears rolled down my eyes uncontrollably. "Tell them the truth... please."

He just turned away from me, like... like I was a mad person.

"Enough," elder Matthew, the eldest and most respected elder of the pack yelled, standing up.

"Young woman, do you know the gravity of what you are doing? He asked walking closer to me. “Accusing the Alpha of something like this?... What proof do you have?"

“Proof,” I thought to myself, as my eyes stared at the crowd. I could see the mockery and disbelief in all their eyes. I didn't have any proof. Brandon was so careful, he swore that I kept it a secret, because of his title.

“Show us the Alpha's mark,” someone screamed in the crowd.

“Yes, show us the Alpha's mark,” the rest backed her up.

My eyes slowly moved from one person to the next. Now it all makes sense…why he never wanted to give me the mark, because he knew that would be the only evidence I would have for a day like this.

I swallowed hard in shame. “I…I don't have the mark,” I stuttered.

“Liar,” the crowd shouted.

Tears rolled down my eyes as I turned to Brandon. “Please say something.” But he looked at me like I was out of my mind.

“Okay, who can testify to this affair you had with the Alpha,” elder Matthew continued, “At least someone must have seen you.”

The only people who knew about us were his head maid and guard who snuck me in and out of our meeting place.

I took a deep breath, cleared my throat, and said the most stupid thing. "Yes there is someone who saw us…his head maid and guard."

Elder Matthew walked even closer to me, "Are you sure? because if we summon her, and she denies you, the consequences will be deadly?"

She is a woman like me, I thought to myself, and I know she will tell the truth, so I nodded. “Yes, I do.”

I could feel my heart beating loudly in my chest. In the lightwood pack, there were two strict rules. One, if you are found to have accused someone wrongly, there would be a severe punishment and the second is if a maiden gets pregnant out of wedlock, she is seen as a stain to the pack and she is banished.

The head maid, an elderly woman, walked in, staring at me with pity in her eyes.

"Do you know this young maiden?" the elder asked, "Have you ever seen her and the Alpha together?"

For a second she didn't say a word, she just stared at me, and then at Alpha Brandon and back at me, then she buried her head to the ground, shook it and said, "No…I have never seen her close to the Alpha."

The whole crowd screamed and whispered to each other. Tears rolled down my eyes, as I hopelessly fell to the ground. My life is over...I am finished.

Elder Matthew shook his head in disappointment. "According to the laws that govern us, I hereby declare that Ella Adams, daughter of Jonah Adams is banished from the pack and this land.

“Serves her right,” the crowd screamed.

Elder Matthew turned to Alpha Brandon to approve my banishment. Brandon cleared his throat and moved forward with Mary’s hand wrapped in his. “I Alpha Brandon, Alpha to Lightwood pack banishes you from this pack. You are never to step foot in it again. We denounce you as one of us.” He moved closer to me, I could perceive his smell, and then he said. “The light wood pack rejects you."

My fingers clenched my chest. I couldn't breathe properly, it was like everything came crashing at once.

I had always known from the first day Brandon approached me after I saved his life one night from some rogues that we can never amount to anything. An omega and an Alpha were impossible together, but he kept telling me to have faith in him. He said he would never disappoint me, he would make me his bride.

My eyes were glued to Brandon, but he didn't even look at me, his eyes were fixed on Mary. Through the corner of my eyes, I could see her smiling.

My wolf cried in pain in my head. Where do I go, who do I turn to. I have no pack nor soulmate...I am now an abomination.
