“Summer, be good. Only if you behave will I love you completely.”
I looked straight into his eyes. “That’s not how love works, James. Real love doesn’t come with conditions.
“Even if I’m not ‘good,’ Caden still loves me without hesitation.
“There’s no future between you and me.”
James’s face twisted in rage, and he snapped, “No! No way! You loved me for seven years! You can’t just let go like that!”
He grabbed my face roughly and was desperate for an answer. “Say you love me, Summer!”
