“I’m going to search for her. Let’s go.” She falters for a moment, her legs becoming unsteady. “Are you okay?” I ask. Her lips tighten for a moment. “They’ve been injecting me with demon blood. It makes me weak, but it should wear off soon.” “Why does demon blood make you weak?” I ask curiously. I really need to learn more about what I am. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get out of this situation long enough to learn. She quirks a brow. “We’re Hunters. Demon blood is our weakness. It’s how it has always been.”

“I’m not sure. But I’ve always been good at winging it, and I haven’t died yet. That’s my plan, you know. Don’t die.” Evander lets out a sigh that mirrors Lucas’s expression. “Fine. "Watch." She raised one hand, and the ground beneath our feet shook. Cracks appeared in the courtyard stones. The academy walls groaned like they were in pain. And from the forest, more of those twisted creatures emerged. Dozens. Hundreds. An army that had been waiting in the shadows for centuries. "Stop!" I shouted. "Stop. I'll do it. ‘ Damon thought. Tyler’s palm went numb as he watched the hunters struggle. Cain was also losing strength. They’ve been fighting demons for a while now, and there are still a lot of them.
