The Accountant Novels & Stories

I want to help her, but I don't know how. "What are you going to school for?" She turns the conversation back to me. Now this is a question I can answer. "Accounting. I know it's kind of boring, but I want to go into forensic accounting." "What is that?" "Where you find out how people are stealing money. You can notice patterns of fraud and figure out where they're filtering the money to." I shrug. "I hate people who steal from others; it's a pet peeve of mine. Plus, I find it fascinating, and I always did the books at my family's business."

she asked. “Fun isn’t me and you know that. Besides I consider myself lucky that my dad offered me a job at his company. It helps me gain experience, added to my knowledge, you know” I let out a smile. “I don’t understand you. You’d think you would want to go crazy before being locked down as an accountant for the rest of your natural born life”, she muttered. “There is nothing wrong with being an accountant” I argued. “Yeah right, I fall asleep just hearing the word” she laughed.

Jackson says, looking over the files. Glenn stands against the wall, his hands jammed in his pockets, a sure sign that he’s agitated. He doesn’t trust Jackson, but I do. My witch senses are developing, and I’m not in the least bit concerned. “Is there a way we can prove it’s him?” “Yeah. I am a forensic accountant. I’ll unravel this for you. It will take a while though.” “Thanks, Alpha. Get cracking. Send me the bill.” Jackson only laughs, cracks his knuckles, and gets to work, his fingers flying over the keyboard. His face glowing with excitement, he is clearly in his element. “I don’t trust him,” Glenn says in my head.

He explains. I look at him shocked, "Sir I don't do accounting." I point out the obvious. He glanced up at me for a second, "Your CV says the opposite. Masters degree in accounting? Bachelors in financial advisory? Masters in business. Masters in stock exchange? Are any of those true?" He questions. "They are Mr Grey but I didn't sign up to be your accountant." I reason. Mostly because the last time I did this was for my final examination two years ago.

It would raise suspicion if any of them were to escape openly. Yuna finalized her answer by pointing out flaws in their system, “It would be ideal for the king to establish a system that can record the finances of each family. It is vital that there are people that specialize in finances to look through the reports thoroughly to find any loose ends. The people in charge of this are known as accountants and auditors. The process would be efficient if the accountants and auditors worked together to check these reports in an orderly fashion.”

" Miss Grande, you applied to be an accountant but I would like to ask if you really know what goes into it." Oh, so it was accountancy position I applied for. But why's he asking that? "Yes," I replied simply. He scrutinized me as if searching for something that will prove that I can really be an accountant. "So can you tell me what an accountant does?" I gave him the 'are you fucking kidding me look.' But his face remained serious and demanding. I breathed and swiped my tongue over my lips before opening them to answer. " Firstly, accounting entails monitoring the financial situation of an organization, business, or individual.

Camile glared at me the next morning as she placed a cup of steaming coffee in front of me. Camile had been my best friend from high school days. We had ended up going to college together, and she was the only one of my friends who hadn't judged me when I made the decision to drop out and chase my Only Fans career. Now, she was the head of finance at a leading cashmere producing company. Sometimes I looked at us and I wondered how we aligned, two different women on different paths. An Only Fans model and a career woman. Life was unpredictable, I guess.

This made her curious; if they could do this and go unnoticed in the company, then a lot more would be happening in her personal accounts. She picked up her phone and dialled a private forensic accountant. A lady that had helped her a lot when she was starting out her firm. But over time she started to trust Caramel a little too much and hasn't bothered to audit the company’s account. “Hello, Mrs Lucy. It's been a while. How have you been?” The friendly voice said. “I am good, Mrs Tina. I called because there is something I need you to do for me.” Lucy said, her voice laced with urgency.

“This is so messy. How do you accountants just cope?” “Lots of coffee and patience,” I say half chuckling without looking up. “This is the only hard part. once we can untangle this, it'll be smooth sailing from here.” He chuckles quietly. “Dante chose well.” I pause at that but don’t respond. Instead, I change the subject. “You mentioned earlier about accounting for investor money. Is something coming up?”

“So… what can I do for you two?” The accountant was the first to speak up before Lorenzo picked up speed as I couldn’t hear a word of what they were saying. “Lorenzo,” I sighed. “Could you give my accountant and I some time alone? I’ll call you when I’m done with him.” Lorenzo didn’t like being pushed about but he nodded and walked out as I looked at my accountant. “You’re here, that means something must have happened.” He nodded. “Money was taken from your account yesterday.”
