The Age Of Adaline の小説・ストーリー

Melanie placed her hands on my shoulders and gave me one of those her warm smiles. "It's gonna be okay." She hugged me tight and waited for me to place a bunch of flowers on his grave. Will Adams was carved on his stone with the year he was born and the year he died.

"Thank you, Adeline. I'll keep that in mind." She returned smile and walked graciously toward the door. "Thanks, again, Mr. Steel." "Adeline," I returned with a nod, holding the door open for her. She nodded and walked out. I gently closed the door behind her and leaned against it in exasperation. "She didn't seem so bad." I looked up to see Leila standing in the doorway. "Too young." Leila laughed. "She's over a hundred and fifty years old!" I shook my head. "She would be more like a babysitter and playmate than a nanny and protector. I can see her playing cars and Barbies with him, but then if a rogue vampire comes at the door "

Could it be… uncle Jerome would save me? “ Our generous Alpha has given me the permission, his magnanimous consent to judge this case” he turns to look at me and our eyes clash, and for a moment I think they almost soften. “So after deep thinking, I have decided that the criminal, Adeline will be degraded to the pack’s slave and will live out her life forever heeding to the demands of the pack and if she dares to reject it. I have given due approval for her to be punished in any manner that pack member benefits”

I wanted to call him my uncle when we first met but he claimed he was too young for that. He might be a few years younger than Adaline but she was a really beautiful woman and was also single. "No! How can you think of something like that? I'm too young to be dating a woman so old." That came out rather offensive but I guess he did it purposely to piss Adaline off.

Adaline could neither talk nor could she scream as she continued holding her chest. Irene noticed what was happening as she called her name but Adaline, who couldn't hear anything at that moment, didn't answer. A few seconds later, Adaline suddenly fell off her wheelchair as she lay lifeless on the ground. “Mother!!!”

The door swung open to reveal a short boy with a big grin. Caleb stepped forward, holding out a small gift bag. “Happy birthday, buddy!” Gideon grinned back. “Can you believe it? I’m thirteen! My teenage years officially start today!” He then turned to Adeline, squinting up at her as if trying to confirm her identity. “You are Adeline, right?” Adeline smiled. “Nope, not me.” Gideon huffed, crossing his arms. “Come on. You’re the only one here who is fat. That has to be you.”

I drum my fingers against my desk, letting the silence stretch for a moment so I can recollect my thoughts and not ruin this anymore than I have. A few seconds pass. “Why don’t you take a breath for me, baby, and hand the phone back to Caleb. Then take yours and go into your room, I’d like to Facetime you.” Silence. One beat… two… three. “Fine.” The call ends. I immediately search Adaline’s name on my log and call her on Facetime. It rings once, twice, and on the third ring, she responds. Adaline is on her bed, her hair in a messy updo with a few strands framing her face, her pinkish-red lipgloss making her lips a little too tempting.

She continued, groaning and grunting, sweating handfuls till she arrived at forty. Madden's expression didn't change. It's like she's not even doing anything. His eyes aren't blinking. He didn't even shake. He's like a statue as he watched her. As for Kimberly, she's about to burst with hope. Adeline got to forty-nine, and her arms nearly slipped like the other time, but she held up with her bones. She could feel them cracking up under her skin. Everyone held their breaths, and she looked up, holding eyes with Madden before doing the fiftieth.

He’d released my wrist like it burned him. But my victory had been short-lived. Because the next time he’d visited, he’d brought pictures—actual fucking photographs of Adeline, printed out and arranged in a neat little stack. Her laughing on our back porch. Her cooking in our kitchen. Her curled up in what had been my reading nook, wearing what might have been my cardigan. “Thought you might want to see what happiness looks like,” he’d said, spreading them out on the bed. “She’s twenty-one, by the way. Just a year younger than you. I didn’t mention that before, did I? Funny how much difference a year makes.”

John stood outside the sanatorium gates for a full four hours. Everyone who passed by would look at him curiously. I let out a long sigh. Just as I was about to go downstairs and settle things with him once and for all, Adaline suddenly appeared. Her hair was a mess. She had a jagged scar on her forehead that wasn't very nice to look at. One of her feet was bare and bleeding after getting scraped raw by the gravel. She left bloody footprints behind her.
