Haunting Adeline Chapter 1 Novels & Stories

“Adeline, come on!” Warm liquid seeps through Adeline’s clothes, and into the ground. I make quick work to press my hands as firmly as I can to the two holes in her body. The crimson liquid coats my arms in a matter of seconds, as the life drains out of her. “No, no, no. Please, say something Adie.” But Adeline stays still no matter how much I shake her. My vision blurs as my tears overflow, falling to Adeline’s cheeks, and that’s when I finally notice her eyes… lifeless and dull.

Hell no. “Adelina!” Without thinking, I jumped down from the stool and bolted. My hands reached for the railing once I hit a flight of stairs. Why was Princeton here? The frantic pounding of my heart blocked out every noise, even his loud shouts behind me. I burst into a quiet hallway, and my attention fell on a door that was slightly open. I went straight for it. “Adelina, please!” I didn’t stop. The open door seemed like a gateway to safety, so I reached for the knob and dove right in.

Knox's smile returned, tinged with satisfaction at her compliance. "Yes?" he replied, his voice tinged with a hint of triumph. Taking a steadying breath, Adeline slowly resumed her seat, her gaze fixed unwaveringly on Knox. The room seemed to hold its breath, its very air thick with anticipation, as she mustered the strength to begin recounting her haunting tale. Her words, like delicate threads, wove a tapestry of profound loss, relentless survival, and a desperate search for answers that had consumed her every waking moment.

Looking at the gloomy rain, I sighed, figuring we wouldn't get many guests. Just then, someone rushed in. I hurried to greet them. "Welcome! Are you here for a room-" I stopped short - it was Adeline! She'd lost weight, cut her hair short, and had a new scar on her face. Her eyes welled up when she saw me. "Henry, I finally found you." "Why are you here? This isn't a shelter - you've got the wrong place!" I kept my face cold. Adeline froze, shaking her head. "No! That's not it!"

He raised his brows in a silent question and then it clicked. Camila! To think it was Adeline…my human mate..who had flashed in my mind at the word girlfriend. Because by right, that was what she was supposed to be to me by now. If she were a werewolf and not human, if she wasn't here for reasons I didn't even want to think about… A wave of guilt clawed inside me. Adeline was innocent…she had just lost her parents, but my dad wanted it this way…to atone, or whatever the fuck he had told me.

He walked behind to run but somehow her feet dragged him towards the sobbing woman and he saw a beautiful woman who was naked sitting near the far end of the lagoon and the white orchids were making her look very heavenly. My dad was awestruck with her beauty though he had studied outside and had seen beautiful foreign women. He fell in love with my mother who was his mate and the daughter of the chief of the Kullina clan. My dad was mesmerized by the enchanting glow on her face and walked towards her but when she saw him she was scared and looked at him like frightened prey. My dad felt pity for her and asked her who she was, she told him that she was Athena a fairy and had been left there

"Where are the elixirs?" A tall shadow on the floor crossed Adeline's barely open eyes. The shadow was of a bulky man, his frame strong and sturdy, and on his hand was a whip. When his deep voice reached Adeline's faraway consciousness, the hairs at the back of her neck stood up. She clenched her fist in anger, despite losing every inch of her being. "We... don't have... such thing," Adeline replied in a hoarse voice, gritting her teeth.

The overhead bulbs had begun flickering badly; the house preferred candles now, and I had stopped questioning it. The first journal belonged to Margaret Harrow, 1897 great-grandniece of the builder. Her early entries were careful and lovely, full of hope about starting over. Then the tone changed. She wrote of a presence that knew her name, dreams that left her aching and wet, a “gentleman in the walls” who came to her at night and made her body sing in ways no living man ever had. She described his cock in explicit, fevered detail: a burning shadow, endless, splitting her sweetly. She wrote of being fucked for hours, of coming until she wept, of begging him to fill her cunt, her ass, her th

The room felt so cold. Adrain slowly walked towards her, his footsteps echoed through the room. Tap! Tap!! Tap!!! He stopped beside her. Clara quickly closed her eyes. She remembered what the ghost had told her, Don’t look into his eyes. No matter what happens… Don’t do it. “Clara,” Adrain called her softly. She refused to answer. “Look at me!” She shook her head. “No,” Clara refused. His voice remained calm. “I said…. Look at me.”

He picked up his thermos and took a slow sip, but the look in his eyes was worse than any insult he could have thrown at me. That afternoon, I grabbed an empty sterile vial from the company medicine cabinet. When I got home that evening, Alice was cooking in the kitchen. The roar of the range hood drowned out everything else. I took the chance to slip into the bedroom and buried my face in the pillow, inhaling deeply. I couldn't smell anything. She claimed the scent was fading, but I couldn't catch even a hint of diesel. "Dinner's ready." Alice appeared in the doorway, her apron speckled with oil and her spatula still dripping with broth.
