Privacy! I roamed my eyes around and found something strange, “I don’t think that all of the Alphas are here? Some of them are missing?” Finn followed my line of sight and nodded, "I actually overheard that some of the Alphas love to live with their room mates and don’t desire to be separated from their friends. So they are not participating in this trial even if it affects their ranking on the leaderboard.” I blinked in surprise, “So we can refuse to participate in the trials?!”

I hissed, glaring at him. “Fuck no. I’m not letting you kill yourself. Lewis wouldn’t have wanted that for you.” He growled and I realized he was Lewis’ Alpha. The power rolling off of him was too much for a regular wolf. I tugged my arm, trying to loosen his hold but he didn’t budge. “If you don’t let go then Lewis would be gone forever. I can reverse this.” I snapped at him. My chest was heaving as anger and pain washed over me. He was wasting my time.

“He’s not wrong.” “You shouldn’t be the one punished for it,” Roy said. “He’s not the enemy, Dad,” she whispered. “I thought he might be at first, but…” She trailed off, then glanced up at her father. “He’s not.” Roy leaned back against the counter, sipping his drink. “No, he’s not. He’s a good Alpha. But he’s under pressure, and the pack’s on edge.” They drank in silence for a while. The quiet was filled with tension, but not the bad kind. More like the kind that came when truths hovered just below the surface.

“He carried her in his arms out of the vehicle and we came out to meet them. And when I released my Alpha aura—just a little, just enough to remind him who is in charge, but he did not flinch.” Andre widened his eyes. “He did not cower. None of us thought about it at the time, but you are right. He just stood there, calm as anything.” “Only an Alpha or a Beta can withstand another Alpha’s aura.” I said quietly. “Everyone else is supposed to feel it. To react. To show some sign for pressure.” I shook my head. “He showed nothing.” “We thought maybe he was a Beta from some small pack,” Andre admitted. “We did not question it. We were too focused on Lillian, the bond, on everything else.”

He snapped barely letting the words leave my mouth. I scoffed, glad that he had caught the bait that I tossed perfectly. “So the alpha goes after rogues now?” I frowned, my brows raised. “Let me rephrase that….” “….so the alpha married hours before to a woman who isn’t his mate, a woman who he declared as Luna had nothing more important to do.
