My name was Lindsey Hawthorn, and I had struggled with this compulsion for as long as I could remember. Think you can do that?” Ember called out. Just a few feet up ahead, Angelica and Brandon carved a path through the forest. The child had a hold of Brandon’s shirt, using him to keep her balance over the rocky terrain. Whenever she hit a patch of mud and slid, she’d grab onto Brandon, nearly taking him down with her. The shrill notes of her giggles cut through the thick silence of the forest, accompanied by Brandon’s disgruntled mumbles and curses.

Angel hid her face in the pillow and groaned. "Let me see" I said and made my way to the bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror and stared at the mark that Angel has made. I smiled at the dark little spot on my skin. I liked the feeling of having her mark on me and I really wished that I could do the same with her. What the hell is happening to me? I walked back to the living room and saw Angel's face bright red as my friends annoyed her. "Guys, stop" I said while chuckling and sat next to Angel. "Thank you" she mumbled whole glaring at Daniel. I watched as she finished her third can of beer.

We rush inside and lay Angel on a makeshift bed. I take his pulse, which is unstable. The treatment appears to be useless, as he gradually stops breathing.

They all look very tough with rigid postures and stern expressions. “Don’t worry about them, they don’t talk or do anything but follow us around,” Angel assures me. When we start driving, I keep my face pressed against the window. Trees of red and gold fly by and I admire the beauty of it all. “Hey, do you want something to drink?” Angel suddenly asks as we exit the forest.

It’s pointless and before I know it, the glow is consuming me. The feel of what I know is a teleportation takes me, and the smell of magic surrounds me like an old friend, reminding me of Angel the witch.
