Angela’s POV “Have you meet Lucifer’s parents already?” asked Lucy from me. We are here at the cafeteria, Lucifer is absent today because he has so may pile of works waiting for him at his office. A sharp, searing bolt of agony shot down her leg, from the base of her skull to the bones in her ankle, and her breath was snatched from her lungs as her knee buckled beneath her. A stumble. Crystal glasses sparkled with things that burned worse than fire. And at the far end—like a throne carved in shadow—sat Luciano. Goddamn Lucifer in a tailored suit. Black shirt, no tie. A glinting silver ring shaped like a lion’s head wrapped around his middle finger. His eyes scanned the club like a king bored with his kingdom. Next to him, half-drunk and draped in arrogance, was Marco, his right hand, who looked like he’d enjoy peeling a man’s skin just to hear the scream.

When Lucian was angry, everything around him suffered from it. "She's trying to steal you from me, Lucian. I was okay with your sexual intercourse with human girls because that's what makes you an incubus. I was fine with it because you only cared about the sex, but with Aria, it's different. I can't just sit and watch her steal you from me!" she spat. Lucian’s eyes blazed purple. Isolde screamed, her skin sizzling under his grip as if his touch burned her. "No one makes my Little Sparkles cry and gets away with it," he seethed, and right before my very eyes, he threw Isolde beneath the cliff.

In less than a month, he wiped them out completely. On the day of the final reckoning, Lucio was drunk. He staggered into the cemetery. "Viola, I avenged you," Lucio said, placing the bloodstained watch of the Arcibaldo famiglia's boss before my grave. "It's finally done, Viola. Their sins are paid." He held a bottle of liquor, laughing like a madman as tears streamed down his face. Then, he drew a handgun from his waist and pressed it to his temple. "Now, it's my turn to atone. Viola, mi dispiace…"

The bruised sky above had gone from dusty lavender to an indigo so deep it looked like it could swallow her whole. She wanted it to. But then— “Aria.” His voice. Always him. Always the ghost she could never quite outrun. She turned slowly, already knowing who she’d see before she saw him. Luciano stood in the shadows of the colonnade, sleeves rolled, tie discarded, hair a little messier than usual. He looked too human like that. Like someone who could bleed. Like someone who might even have a heart. Too bad she knew better. “You followed me,” she said, tone flat.
