End Game
When my number was called, I grabbed the bag and turned toward the exit, already halfway gone in my head.
The door opened again, and Sebastian walked back in—alone this time.
“Zai.” His voice sounded hesitant—careful. Like he was testing thin ice.
I stopped and met his eyes. I didn’t bother hiding it. The pain in my eyes—wide open, raw and bleeding through every crack I hadn’t managed to seal yet. My throat was burning, my chest aching like it was being crushed from the inside out.
I shook my head once. My silent way to telling that I didn't wanna hear anything he had to say. What was done was done.
