Before she was shoved into the police car, she glared at me through her tangled hair, her eyes full of venom as she screamed, "Nicole! You'll die a miserable death! I'll come for you even in death!"
I curled my lips into a faint, icy smirk. "Do try to live long and well in prison. This time, you won't need to fake your illness."
The sirens wailed as the police car sped away, and for the first time in a long while, the world fell quiet.
I turned and left the hospital, the sunlight so harsh it made my eyes sting.
