The Beast clawed at my chest, shredding my starmetal shirt. "Burn!" I screamed. I unleashed a pulse of solar flare directly into its mouth. FWOOM. The fire went down its throat. The Beast didn't die. It swallowed. It drank the fire. Its stomach glowed orange for a second, then faded back to gray. It licked its lips. "MORE," a voice hissed from inside the beast. Not the Beast's voice. The voice of the Skeleton in the deep. The Beast clamped its jaws shut. My hands were inside.

His eyes burned gold. “The oath…” His voice was guttural, barely human. “It won’t hold much longer.” Zara’s hand tightened on his arm, grounding him. But it was not enough to silence the Beast’s hunger. It pulled at him again, harder than before. The earth shuddered with its longing. The Vale trembled with the sound of chains about to snap. And deep inside, Maxim knew: when they broke, there would be no turning back. The Beast tugged harder at his chains, and the world shook with its hunger.

Jack Blackwell must have made arrangements to jam the tracker's signals. Beast's mind started working again and he started the car, taking the U-turn to go back to the mansion to see it for himself. My eyes instantly opened when my legs were easily grabbed. The beast pulled me to its side like I was nothing, it showed its full dominance by the loud sneer that was making me want to submit. I knew I wasn't strong enough to fight or escape it, but that didn't mean I was going to willingly do what the beast wanted, at least at that minute. I wasn't going to submit no matter what.
