Captive Of The Count

Captive Of The Count

I watched him for some time memorising the movement of his shadow and catching whiffs of his scent from the air and after staying there for a while gazing at him, I went about my task. I braced myself, gathered the courage and dropped the torch next to the tent not waiting to see the flames soar before turning on my heels. I ran back to my tent, jumped on the bed and brought the blankets over me waiting for the aftermath of my actions. First came the smell, and then the panic. Men screaming that the Count's tent is on fire and calling for water to put it out. The commotion was satisfying but not enough to sate my anger from how he had treated me in front of them. This would do anyway.

I am liking the story and definitely hooked. My personal opinion, I wish Amara wasn't so naive after what happened to her when she was younger. However, as Amara's story develops the personality type seems to make sense. I look forward to reading more chapters and watching for those updates.

This book is a sequel to “The Alpha King’s Rejected Mate” and should be read after the first book. Plot was very interesting and the enemies to lovers vibe was super intense! The book could use proofreading, but overall a great story with a HEA! :)

Shadows of the Vow

“He’s not strong. He’s smart. That’s more dangerous. Lorenzo’s about to swallow his own poison, served by a boy he thinks is broken.” Cristo moved through the small estate with obedience. But I saw it. In the glint of his eye. In the way he sat. The way he paused a second too long near Lorenzo’s control vault. He was already mapping out the bones of the beast. And I, Antonioni, was watching. Always watching. Through an eye that wasn’t mine. But might as well be. **** Cristo had returned to Italy, Naples. He took the train that same night.

Betrayed by the Don, Claimed by the King

Betrayed by the Don, Claimed by the King

he said, taking my hand and addressing the crowd, his voice full of love and solemnity, “I, Arthur Russo, am no longer the King of Chicago. I am merely a knight in service to my Queen and our Princess.” He had backed up every promise with concrete action. After the meeting, the news was everywhere. Stories of our love were the envy of all. Tucked among the major headlines was a small, insignificant blurb. Mr. Capello also delivered Lucas’s final letter. I took the envelope but didn’t open it. I walked to the fireplace, watched the roaring flames, and let the envelope fall from my fingers. The fire devoured it in an instant. The past—the love, the hate—was ash.

“And you, I presume, would be the dashing young man who would be a hard catch. You’d tell the old hags—” “Old bats,” he corrected. “Oh, sorry. But you’d tell the old bats that you weren’t ready to settle down and take responsibility of a wife and family because there was so much world out there for you to explore, and so many women for you to charm.” Monte’s gaze swung to her. Dramatically, he gasped and clutched his chest as he stepped back. “Oh, Breanna—” She arched an eyebrow. “That’s Countess Loveland to you, sir.”

The First Heir

The First Heir

Clementine turned to look at Montel and Philip and found that they could walk for a few more hours. Clementine fully realized the gap between her and Philip now. A small difference between levels was like a chasm. A loser lingering in the fourth zone like her could probably never catch up to his trail. Clementine took advantage of the abundant energy in the mountains and practiced hard. The three of them stayed here for two days, and Montel finally caught the presence of the treasure. “It should be in the next two days. Many people may notice the trace in the middle of the mountain. By then, I’m afraid the villagers…” Montel frowned.

love this book...the way the writer builds up the characters most especially the ML..but i was wondering why would the ML have to endure such humiliations from his inlaws when he could just show them his real 'him' as well and the enormous power that he holds considering the status of his family...w

The Mafia's Bride

The Mafia's Bride

“Are you shy? No, don't be, Annalisa. Let's put on a good show for all of them.” I couldn't do this anymore. At this junction, I was so tired. “I'm sure you've given Cristiano a head before, this shouldn't be difficult for you.” he muttered while I watched him unbuckle his belt. Giovanni brought out his massive cock and started stroking it. At this point, I didn’t even care anymore. Why was my story different? In movies, the heroine always gets saved before the villain even lays a finger on her. So where the hell was Cristiano? Shouldn’t he have busted in by now, guns blazing?

Revenge of the Betrayed: The Domineering Duke Falls for Me

“What is this?” Count Croyso sneered, throwing an old poetry book in front of Charlotte. “This poem, written by my wife Anna ten years ago, was well-known. You stole it and slandered my daughter. What have you done to her in private?” His anger, a result of battlefield experiences, overwhelmed Charlotte, who collapsed in terror. “Count Croyso, I didn’t know... I... I was just following orders...” Charlotte stammered, crying. “Please, spare me!”

الأسئلة الشائعة

The story summary positions the transformation as a slow, devastating corrosion of identity, not a clean switch. It starts with the shock of the false arrest and the initial descent in the Château d'If, but the summary often glosses over the fourteen-year middle—the real heart of the change. That's where Edmond Dantès dies and the Count is forged. It wasn't just studying with the Abbé; it was the total erasure of his past self, a deliberate un-becoming. The summary has to show how his innocence, his love for Mercédès, his simple sailor's faith are systematically replaced with the cold calculus of vengeance. You see the blueprint of the plot in the priest's revelations, but the emotional machinery is installed during those silent years of isolation. By the time he emerges, the warmth is gone, replaced by that chilling, polite detachment. The summary explains the 'how'—the education, the treasure, the new identity—but the real transformation is in the 'why' shifting from joyful existence to a life that is essentially a monument to a wrong.

What gets me is how the summary handles his 'return' to society. It frames him as a puppet master, which is accurate, but the chilling part is his complete emotional dissociation from the people he once loved. He manipulates them like pieces on a board, and the summary rightly presents this as the ultimate evidence of his change. He's no longer a man seeking justice; he's become the instrument of a pre-ordained fate, which is a far darker thing. The final act, where he spares Albert and finds a sliver of redemption with Haydée, feels almost like an afterthought in most summaries—a necessary footnote to show he wasn't completely lost. But the core transformation the summary explains is one into a being of pure, intellectualized wrath, a force of nature wearing aristocratic finery.
