His thirst was growing day after day, minutes after minutes, and seconds after seconds. Just as Matilda cursed, “ And you Riga, will become a monster, a night creature an enemy of all humans. The wind blew harshly like it was going to rain, the cloud was getting darker as droplets of rain fell to the ground.

I flipped the pages, searching for the truth about the creature in the hollow. Lycan. Cursed shifter. Forbidden alchemy. The words blurred. The monster in the basement—the man who claimed to be my master—was a relic of dark, archaic magic. My blood ran cold as I checked the calendar. The new moon. It wasn't a myth; it was a biological sentence. "Curiosity has always been your greatest defect, Ashford." The book dropped from my hands, hitting the floor with a heavy thud. Cassius stood in the threshold, his silhouette framed by the harsh hallway light. He walked forward, his boots clicking rhythmically, and he didn't stop until he was looming over me.

I immediately took my hands off of Aurora's neck, watching emotionlessly as she fell to the ground trying to catch her breath. She scooted away from me, watching me with wide terrified eyes.

**Elizabeth's POV** * The monster pondered for a moment, then raised an eyebrow with a wry smile, "So what? Even if I am a so-called Fire Wolf and I am a member of the werewolves, I am still that awful monster in the eyes of all werewolves. I can't control my flames. My damned flames will hurt everyone who comes near me, even myself. I'm still a fucking cursed monster. No one cares if I'm a Fire Wolf or a Dwarf Wolf or whatever the hell I am. They just think I'm a monster!"

I needed to feed my monsters or there would be consequences. “Hi, handsome. Would you like some company?” I turned and saw an attractive blonde standing next to me. Perfect. I thought to myself. She wasn’t my usual but she would do. So I started my game again. Within thirty minutes she was walking out the door with me. We walked over to my car and I held the door as she climbed in. I smiled to myself as I climbed into the car and drove her to her death. This wasn’t how I wanted the night to end at least not with this woman but it would hold off my demons for now.

It is really a small child laying there. The hamram moves closer to me and I look up at it. Its blood smeared body and paws change something fundamental inside me. This is no longer a poor sixteen year old boy who hasn’t asked to be cursed. I finally see the monster, the creature who has just eaten his dad and kid brother. Anger bubbles up inside me. Now I fully get why Marta sees these monsters so black and white, they are mindless cold killers.

Our father will never locate us. I felt like the breath in my lungs was stuck. Like I was suffocating. My mother was a monster. My parents are monsters I am a monster. I thought I was good like my mother, but I am not. I am doomed to be just like them. I grabbed my stuff and left the cabin, taking with me the journals and texts Esmerelda wanted me to.
