Anastasia's POV "Is she bluffing??! There is no information about rejected mates in the books I've seen. And what does she mean already rejected two? Mates are said to be extremely hard to come by!" I frustratingly pull my hair as I pace back in forth in my room. "But Rozen said that mates are a bond of forever right? So how can it be rejected? No... do I actually trust the words of that fake b*tch?" I continued to anxiously pace around the room. I don't even know nor do I understand why I am currently reacting like this. This whole overreaction isn't like me! No, actually all of these emotions whirling and causing havoc inside me are not like me at all!

It couldn’t make sense. “I don’t understand you,” I whispered, the words spilling before I could stop them. “You keep saying things that… that can’t be true.” His gaze didn’t falter. “They’re true.” I shook my head, heat rising to my cheeks. “No. They’re not. I already had a mate.” The last word cracked, too jagged, too raw. “And he rejected me.” There it was. The scar I never let anyone touch. The one that still bled when the night got too quiet.

He was breathing raggedly, his entire body strung taut, his pulse thudding against the column of his throat. And his eyes were still blazing bright. Then he spoke. “I, Alpha Elias Beaumont…” His voice seized. And it felt like the words were caught in his throat. The matebond connection constricted us tight like a garrote, searing through my veins, drawing off the both of us. His breath stuck, his fingers unclenching. “Get it over with,” I taunted, thrusting out my chin. “Don't stop now. You coward.” He tried to. I could sense him trying.

Lucky him for being able to travel so easily. Elder Matthias stepped forward, his voice filled with arrogance. "Alpha Balin," he said, "You have defied us for too long. Since you refuse to take action, we have taken it for you. The mating ceremony will proceed as planned." I snarled, my wolf's rage threatening to consume me. "You will do no such thing," I growled, my voice echoing through the square. Matthias's eyes widened in surprise. "Balin, you dare to challenge our authority?"

The smell of cigarettes contaminating the air woke me up and I thought Konstatin had tried to burn a building down with me inside of it. Yet, I still remain silent; resilient to fight my way out of hell's grip upon me. Even though minutes have passed, I haven't been able to make anything out that will help me survive or escape. I'm still lying on the frigid ground, helpless as the day I was born. Another voice sweeps through the room, "I was wondering when the Defiant Queen would join us." He murmurs in English with a thick accent, followed by laughter that erupts through the room.

My fists were clenched, and I shook in anger. 'Cali!' Screamed my inner wolf, and I flinched, clearing my throat. Before I could say a word to him, he shut the door in my face, and it registered with me. My mate is Alpha Edward Chasia, the cruel Alpha, and he didn't even acknowledge my presence. My breath was ragged. My legs gave up under me, and I slid against the wall to sit down. My mate was on the other side, with another woman in his bed.

Ulaya screamed as loud as she could standing alongside both men that were not backing down from their show of dominance. "JARROD! ULAYA AND KASSIAN ARE FUCKING MATES! Brother! I am not lying! They are mates! Remember Mary had four mates? Ulaya is like Mary! Jenson try to make him stop! It is true Kassian is also Ulaya's mate! That's why they stared so long at each other that first night they met. They were in shock about it....but today they couldn't deny it!" Jenna backed away from the two men whose eyes were a dark midnight color set on each other.

I murmur as I am lost, once again, in the moment. Clearing his voice, “Do I recall correctly that Kate or Colby indicated you had a fated mate before me?” Matt asks almost timidly. I look at him before nodding he was correct. “How was that experience?” he asks. I look at him before replying, “Horrible.”.

Damian’s was fire and steel, Kael’s was ice and calculation, Riven’s was chaos barely chained, and Lucien’s… Lucien’s was the one that made my pulse trip over itself, because it was calm, patient, and relentless, like a tide that always came back. “You’re not walking out of here.” Damian’s voice was low, but it cracked like a whip. “I’m not your prisoner,” I said, lifting my chin, even though my heart was doing its best impression of a trapped bird. Kael’s eyes narrowed, the frost in his gaze enough to freeze my skin. “No. You’re our mate.” The word should have been beautiful. Instead, it felt like a chain. “A mate you didn’t want,” I shot back. “Until it suited you.”

It doesn't how different or same they are. I'll kill them all. “We have ten seconds before the..,” he didn't finish his sentence. The air warped slightly, a rotten smell blooming in the air with such a force I staggered back. Three of them manifested from thin air. They looked ragged, hair missing patches and skin the color of rotten tomatoes. Their eyes were sharp and lucid, in contrast with their appearance. My men took their stance and I smiled. It was a feral thing, this smile. My teeth were clenched and so was my nostrils.
