I was snagged back to reality as big hands shoved me backwards and I landed on my butt. With a heavy thud. Matthias did not waist any time as he turned to Emma, "By now, Imogen has felt the loss of her mate, time to strike while the iron is hot." Emma cringed and brushed tears away as she processed the banishment but Matthias defended his actions, "Emma, stay strong. My brothers had my first mate killed. This is beyond personal because they were coming for you next. Do you understand?" "Matthias, I understand but I don't have to like it. It's so brutal and well..." she whispered as her voice faded away. He grabbed her and said softly, "It's ok! You will be ok!"

I said, and he chuckled. “Have you ever considered the other possibilities?” Mat said in a serious voice. “Yeah, and I am fucking scared of them, so for now, I will keep positive wishful thinking,” I said and he chuckled. “It happened to Dominic... Aisling was infatuated with a guy, James... I believe it was his name.” Mat paused. “He got rejected, and I think my sister will reject any other man who is not you.” Mat pointed out, and I bit my lower lip. I hope so, I do, because if she decides to give the mate bond a chance, I am screwed.
