Fearing the worst already. The gnarled old demon blinked bleary orange eyes around the room and drew in rasping breaths. His old body rattled. His bones quivered in his body. Objecting to the skin that contained them. “What is it, My Lord?” Udora whispered from the corner opposite the demon master, from where she huddled on the floor. Still shivering from all she had endured at her master’s hand in recompense for her last failure.

The creature that crashes through the shrine's ceiling is nightmare made flesh. It's massive, easily fifteen feet tall, with skin like molten obsidian and eyes that burn like furnaces. Wings spread from its back, leathery and torn, blocking out what little light remains. This isn't a possessed human. This is a demon in its true form. "Malphas!" Pete's voice is filled with relief and reverence as he struggles to his feet. "Master, you came!" The demon—Malphas—surveys the chamber with those burning eyes, taking in the freed children, the interrupted ritual, Derek's broken form protecting me. His laughter shakes the walls.

I paused for a second before following him into the rather cramped passageway. “Special indeed. He tried ripping my head off when we met" I said, walking closely behind him. “Yet here you stand complete," he paused, turning to me. “You are indeed special," he added, then resumed walking. “Your master. You know what he is right?” I asked. “Of course. So far I have served him for 30 years and I couldn't possibly ask to serve another,” he said and just then we stopped at an elevator.
