The Rejected Queen
Like she was burning through every ounce of power the Goddess had given her and it was bleeding into me.
“Stop-” I shouted, but she was already rising.
Her eyes opened, blazing brighter than the moon itself. The wind screamed around her, lifting her hair like silver flame.
The creature faltered, smoke trembling, retreating one step, two..
“You will not take him,” she said, her voice layered with something more. Something divine.
Her hand lifted, palm outward. The light exploded outward, blinding, tearing through shadow, cutting the creature apart piece by piece until its scream fractured into a thousand whispers that scattered into the night.
