My boots crunched glass as I turned and made my way to the altar.

Before George could finish, Father snatched up the bowl of broth and hurled it to the floor—bowl, soup, and all. "Shut your mouth!" He shot to his feet, eyes bloodshot like a raging lion—all trace of his earlier tenderness gone. "He is not my flesh and blood! He's the monster who killed Matthew! He's my enemy! I'd eat his flesh and sleep on his hide if I could! Say one more word about him in my presence, and you can pack your things and get the hell out of this house!"

She hoped this wasn't a dangerous book. What the hell was the book doing at the Romano’s mansion? From the little thing she could understand just by staring at it, it was a book of advanced spells. Advanced spells like dark magic. She wondered how she knew the book was in the Romano’s basement and how she even found it. She got home and got out of the car. She walked into the house and froze when she saw Jace walking out of the hallway that led to Lucino’s study. Her heart skipped a beat as she saw him.

The air inside—the air carries a discontinuous mixture of amber incense and sharp metallic

"Don't you want to know what it feels like doing it in someone else's home?" Mr. Gabelman's bloated body looked absolutely repulsive on camera. They went from the living room to the master bedroom—didn't even separate to shower. I nearly threw up watching it.

She was even more surprised. Was the world ending, or perhaps, this was some sort of joke or prank that they were trying to play?

I cried for a long time, all the way until Dad and Grandma came back. They brought with them a middle-aged guy who looked like some kind of exorcist. As soon as they walked in, they pointed at the woman next to me and yelled, "Sir, that's her! This evil spirit has taken over my wife and is holding my daughter captive!" I couldn't wrap my head around how just standing there made me the one being "held captive". With a dramatic flourish, the exorcist pulled out a bottle of holy water from his bag and started chanting. Suddenly, the holy water was floating in midair and flying right at the woman. It splashed on her and turned into a puff of black smoke.
