"Uh—you better be careful of what comes out of that mouth, Zaire Gibson. You don't want to piss me off right now. I will whoop your ass right in front of these people."
I sighed. "Okay, fine. I'll try."
She narrowed her eyes at me. "Try properly."
I muttered something under my breath.
"What was that?"
"I said I'll try properly aunt," I repeated louder, forcing a tight smile.
She studied me for a second longer, like she could see straight through my bullshit. She probably could. Aunt Monica had that gift. It was annoying.
"Good," she said finally. "Because whether you like it or not, if this works out with me and David, this is family. Your family too. Don't you dare try to exclude yourself."
