A Pawn's Guide to Success

A Pawn's Guide to Success

"I'm stable now. You should go." He seemed taken aback. "You don't mind if I check on her?" Mind? Why would I mind? My personal ATM was free to make withdrawals elsewhere, as long as my account remained open. I gave him a small, magnanimous smile. "It's fine, really." He hesitated, then left. I felt no disappointment. Instead, I looked down at the brilliant ruby resting in my hand. So expensive. So beautiful. So mine. … What I hadn't anticipated was that even in this new life, I couldn't escape Cindy's vicious schemes.

Dawn of the Gods

Dawn of the Gods

Xiao Chen could not help but feel a melancholic gloom. Moments passed as night came slowly. Xiao Chen was beginning to leave when the cognizance of his Divine Sense alerted him to several cubicle alcoves hewed from the stone of the cavern walls. In these crude shelves fashioned from stone were many ancient books and manuscripts which were covered with layers of dust and soot. Xiao Chen walked closer and removed a book from one of the alcoves. He looked closely at it and found its title, "Heavenly Sky Palm".

My Seven Gorgeous Women

My Seven Gorgeous Women

Soon, a colossal and imposing palace loomed on the horizon, coming into Chase's view. "The Southsky Pavilion," Chase murmured while narrowing his eyes. This pavilion was an enterprise established by the Cooper family in the martial arts domain. Now, standing before its gates, Chase felt the weight of numerous watchful gazes. Those eyes carried hostility and vigilance, making it clear his arrival was far from welcome.

Magnus: Dragon Lord

Magnus: Dragon Lord

"Whatever that means coming from a being that styles himself a god." "We'll find out soon enough," Marcia said, her hand resting on the pommel of her sword. The eastern gate opened with the same groaning protest as before, revealing the scarred plains beyond. In the distance, approximately halfway between the city walls and the godking's encampment, a large pavilion had been erected overnight. It stood alone in the wasteland, its black fabric rippling despite the still air, as if alive or infused with some strange energy.

Veil of Secrets

Veil of Secrets

What I still had left to do. By the time I reached our dormitory, Evelina had already started packing. Sigils still thrummed quietly along the walls of our concealed closet, elegant script so fine the Eye couldn’t see them. She moved gracefully in the candlelight, efficient and deliberate. Books of enchanted parchment levitated next to her as she folded them carefully into a reinforced carrying case.

letters that staved

letters that staved

Yam sliced it open slowly, hands trembling. Inside was their book. “The Art of Staying.” Cover: a sunflower. A crooked shelf. Two mugs—one chipped. And behind it all, the suggestion of a fan, mid-spin. Franc stared at it like it might whisper back. “Feels unreal,” Yam said. Franc flipped through pages. Some with artwork. Others with Yam’s poetry. Their story—wired beginnings and all—now bound in matte finish. “I think this book breathes,” Franc said.

MARKED BY THE SILENCED WOLF

MARKED BY THE SILENCED WOLF

I commanded, my voice echoing with a resonance that was not entirely my own. The iron bolts groaned, a sound like a giant waking from a long slumber. The door swung open slowly, revealing a chamber filled with a soft, ethereal glow. Thousands of scrolls were tucked into honeycomb shelves that reached into the darkness above, and in the center stood a pedestal made of pure obsidian. On it sat the book, bound in skin that shimmered like a raven’s wing. "The Book of Shadows," Lila whispered, her torch flickering as if the room itself were trying to snuff it out. "It actually exists."

Book 3# - A desperate wish

Rosemary’s Pov “I will eat later…” I say softly , offering him a smile. He exchanges a look with Xavier , but I do not stay for the lectures that I know is coming. Instead I walk to the entrance and sit on the floor in a crossed legged position – my eyes fixated on the fiery red flames that almost touches the sky. I sit out there for a while , enjoying the peace of being alone. At this moment , all I ever want is to be alone. I would often feel my stomach kick me with hunger , as my nose smelt the food that was cooking but I easily turned my attention back to the burning kingdom.

The Way of the Dragon

The Way of the Dragon

"According to what I've heard, there is Venerable Wind Spirit, a real peerless treasure in this Secret Land!" "The treasure is hiding here..." As she spoke, Bai Linglong's slender fingers pointed in a certain direction. "Swoosh!" Zephyr Khan's eyes followed the finger and swept over. In that place. There was a very tall pavilion, which emitted a dazzling golden light. Faintly, wisps of sharp aura spread out. This pavilion was still some distance away from them. Even from such a long distance, one could feel the solemn and powerful ancient aura fluctuation.

A Queen Among Blood

A Queen Among Blood

So far all of my research is leaving me with nothing but carpal tunnel from how fast I’m scanning through all this brail. I get up from the sofa and return the book I was reading to its rightful place on the shelf, then go up to the next floor and run my fingers along the edges of the shelf to read each book's code to find the one I want. Once I do, I take it to the centre of the library where a 4-foot podium resides. The podium is made with magic so it’s the only thing in this library I can see. I place the book on the podium and watch as the podium begins to pulse with a lemon-yellow glow as that same colour surrounds the book, outlining it and making it visible to my eyes. Once the pulsin
