Loyalty Pawn #2 Novels & Stories

Michelle swears taking the glass taking a sip then bows her head. “I, Thane Haner swear, my loyalty to Alpha Raven Holmes and to my pack, Wolf Creek, as your Gamma,” Thane swears with a crooked grin taking the glass and drinking some. Embry and I both raise an eyebrow at his cockiness wondering if he’ll be able to keep up with the title. “I, Jacoby Waters, swear my loyalty to Alpha Raven Holmes and to Wolf Creek,” Jacoby is next drinking from the glass. I stand stunned and surprised at how quick they are to do this.

In addition to group training, Morrigan had private sessions with Barrett, Idris, and Jasira. Morrigan turned eighteen a few months prior, officially becoming a warrior of the pack, though her dream is to join the Royal Guard. Since her mate isn’t in the pack, there’s nothing she wants more than to leave with them. The Commons begins to die down as it nears ten o’clock, even though it’s still light out. As the sun begins to set, a man approaches Morrigan. “You should get to bed if you still want to come on patrols with me in the morning,” he says.

"Let me in. I need to see how Zach is doing." The bodyguard answered in a low voice, "Mr. Labarre ordered no one is allowed inside." Wynona snapped, clearly unhappy, "Don't you know who I am? I'm his fiancée." The apple in my hand instantly lost its appeal. I tossed it into the trash without a second thought. I turned my gaze toward the door, regaining my usual indifference. "The person you hired... seems to be lost in her character now."

She was trying to replace me, and I needed to act fast. I recalled selling it to a pawnshop. When the owner asked about my past and my address, I hesitated and lied, just in case. After paying me, she held me back. "Kid, don't trust men blindly. Hold onto your money. This pendant's worth more than $10,000, but if you're set on helping your boyfriend, I'll give you that now. Take this gold locket too and keep it safe. If life goes south, bring it back, and I'll give you more. Just keep this from him."

“I’m simply stating the obvious. You’re wearing his name, but are you wearing his loyalty?” I took a slow sip of my drink, allowing the moment to stretch. The question was meant to dig, to unravel something inside me. But I had learned long ago how to let words hit without breaking skin. “Loyalty,” I murmured, tilting my head slightly, “is a currency, just like power. And I make sure mine is very expensive.” For the first time, he hesitated. A flicker, a pause—so small most wouldn’t have caught it.

“Dmitri, I owe you for helping me with the deal. I couldn’t have done it without you. I owe you.” I pause, turning slightly, just enough to let him see the cruel smile tugging at my lips. “Oh, you owe me more than you think, Pavlov.” He doesn’t know yet, but his time is coming. His parting words are nothing but a weak attempt to pledge loyalty, to put himself in my good graces before I decide to turn my sights on him. But I’m not interested in false loyalty. I don’t need someone who hides behind words when their actions say otherwise.

Before I can say anything, Aurelian takes the chalice. “I, Tobias Cade Walsh pledge my loyalty, my service, and my life to you Alpha Darius Colt Barnett, and to you Alpha Luna Diamond Joy Stone.” Aurelian says in his deep, husky voice. He sips from the chalice, and he drops to the ground, grabbing his head. A muffled groan escapes him. I crouch down to help him.
