Every eye remained locked on the screen, waiting, listening, hoping not to miss a single word. Finally, the mechanical voice returned. "Just that golden ornament." For welcoming you properly.” She gestured to a small silver box on the edge of the tray. Intricate wolf-head etchings covered the lid. Beautiful. Expensive. Elara hesitated. “Should I open it now?”

She pouted at the last bit like a stroppy teenager who was forced to celebrate a sibling’s birthday, I just rolled my eyes at her as I got up from the sofa and headed to the large present in the middle of my room. I gently pulled off the beautiful bow made from some golden silk material; it was clear that this had been professionally wrapped as I gift as I know Ryder wouldn’t have been able to do this so neatly, I chuckled to myself.
