She stumbled forward, her eyes wide with fear. But Griffin was too strong. He had Nicholas pinned to the ground, his eyes blazing with fury. "You're going to pay for what you did to me," Griffin spat, his voice low and menacing. Nicholas's eyes widened in fear as Griffin's hands closed around his throat. He was going to kill him. He was going to squeeze the life out of him. Sarah knew she had to act fast. She stumbled forward, her eyes fixed on Griffin's face. "Griffin, stop!" she screamed, her voice piercing the air.

Sirens scream in the streets below, blending with the distant growls and snarls of wolves shifting beneath a blood-red moon. My knees buckle. I slump into the chaise, crying into my quivering fists. Fear coils tight in my belly, horror for Aaron… and for Lucian.

I ask, breathless, a tremor of panic making my chest go unbelievably tight. “H-hellhounds.” She sucks in a breath like she’s struggling to breathe. “It happened so fast, Ella. One second, I was sitting at the fire wondering why Ryatt made you walk to him through the woods, and then Granger was running up to me with Hannah over his shoulder. He grabbed me and then–then the screech–” Her shaking hands brush against mine as she lifts them to cover her ears. “I shifted. I was scared. The evening sky hung heavy and dark over the deserted street, casting deep shadows over the lonely street of Greenwood. The street lamps flickered weakly, their light barely penetrating the gloom. Despite the danger, a few brave souls could be seen darting quickly between the buildings, their eyes darting nervously from side to side as they hurried home. Each person seemed to be walking with a sense of urgency as if they knew that the werewolf could strike at any moment. My eyes were glowing green as I felt the wind pick up around me. “Fuck you! You were unwanted then, and you were unwanted now. Don’t you see you are just a tool for her? His eyes changed into purple, his nose changed more into a snout as his fangs grew out. His fingernails extended into small swords. This was the first time I had felt fear in a long time. We needed to leave.
