DANTE Strolling into the warehouse, I asked, "What's the situation here?" Omar walked beside me, while the rest of my inner circle lounged on chairs and crates holding warm coffee. It was barely six in the morning. The huge guy kneeling with his hands behind his back caught my attention. "Our security caught them in the middle of a heist." Omar explained. "They managed to steal four crates. There were two guys, one driver; this one was easy to pin down."

"Boss, we're in serious trouble." "I know, I know… we'll have to find a way out of this." Phil said, trying to remain calm. Phil was the mastermind, he had very carefully planned the heist, orchestrating the entire operation with calculated precision. He had sought out and hired a group of robbers, knowing their criminal expertise would be essential to executing the theft smoothly.

"What if she's not the only one? What if the Laurents pulled another body from that water, someone they needed alive, someone who knew something—" "Then we find them," I said. "We follow the money. We find the facility, the records, the person they paid to hide for twenty-two years." He turned. Look at me. The fear was gone, replaced by something harder, older, the look of a man who had spent two decades preparing for a war and was only now discovering the battlefield was larger than he knew. "Pier 17," he said. "Twelve hours. James thinks I want the alliance documents to clear the Voss name, to restore their legacy. He doesn't know about this. He doesn't know we found the payments."

"We shouldn't keep fighting each other anymore." Her eyes met his again. "Our real enemy is Liora." Lucien slowly nodded. "I was already investigating that before those bastards arrested me." Stephanie frowned. "You were?" Lucien set the plate aside. "The hidden heiress of Starlight Enterprise recently returned." "Starlight?" Stephanie interrupted, visibly shocked. "I've heard they're one of the biggest companies in the world." "They are." Lucien's expression grew serious. "But here's the strange part, the heiress looks exactly like Liora."

I burst out laughing and was glad that I had just swallowed the food in my mouth or it would have looked pretty ridiculous! “Why would I tell you anything?” I hissed. I had enough of this ridiculous game. That was why I didn’t specialize in intelligence! I didn’t have the patience for it! “You kidnapped me. Admitted that you have been stealing information from my home, and what? All so you could do what? Kill my family?! My people!” I was up on my feet by now, screaming at the top of my lungs. My eyes darted back and forth to look for any possible exits. He might be strong, but I knew I could be faster if I just knew which way to go!
